Current gigging gear
Hey gang! I was just curious what is the current gigging gear that you are using. Are you using pedals? Do you have your own portable PA? What guitar(s)? etc. Here is my gear: I am trying to keep things real simple... Guitar: Taylor 214ce Deluxe in Sunburst Pedal: TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 PA: Harbinger MLS1000 Mic: Shure SM58 (Back-up Shure Beta 58) I have been toying with the idea of adding a Beat Buddy or maybe a simple kick drum pedal. Your turn...

@Robert Roe I’m simple and lazy! I use: 1. ElectroVoice Everse 8 speaker/stand 2. Inexpensive Fender acoustic guitar 3. SM 58 microphone/stand 4. Fold up stool (I sit to play) 5. Piece of carpet in case floor is slick 6. TV tray for picks, batteries, fan 7. Small battery operated fan (Craftsman makes a great one) 8. Ipad/holder (can’t remember shit so I need to glance at lyrics & chords) No pedals, no processors, no beat buddies, no loopers…just sheer unadulterated laziness!!

@Martin Creathorn I have a stool very similar to that and I love it!
Tuning down???
So I used to play in Rock bands many moons ago. During that time I was the lead singer/rhythm guitarist. In those bands we always tuned down a half step (that made it easier to sing Zeppelin, AC/DC, etc.). That has carried on with my solo acoustic performances. My question is, how many of you tune down and if so, how low do you drop your tuning?

@Robert Roe I tune down a 1/2 step for everything.
🎤 Muso Question of the Week.
Firstly, a big thank you to the OG members who've joined while this place is still brand new. It's great to have you here, and I'm hoping we can build this into a genuinely useful community for working and aspiring gigging musicians. There are already decades of experience between the people in here, so hopefully this becomes a place where we can share what we've learned, help each other out, have a laugh at the ridiculous side of gigging, and maybe save each other from learning EVERYTHING the hard way. So, to get things rolling... What's ONE thing you know about gigging now that you wish someone had told you when you started?

For retirement home gigs, I would’ve loved a heads up that 90 year old women will ask you back to their room for an “encore performance”! 🤦‍♂️
Good initiative
Great that you have created this community. I am sure that we can all benefit from each others experience and knowledge, and share the ups and downs of solo gigging. Well done Tod.
