What’s One Thing You Want to Get Better at This Summer?
Skill building isn’t just for students. If you could master one thing this summer—professionally or personally—what would it be? Classroom systems? Boundaries? A new tech tool? Drop your growth goal in the comments and let’s cheer each other on.

Funny you have boundaries listed. Our district has gone thru a lot of change (3rd superintendent of the appointed last week). Our principal announced retirement one week, took leave of absence the week after. (Other HS is district lost principal and 2 VP). Sure there is a lot of change to come. All change is not 'bad', but all of this has created turmoil amongst staff (which is 'bad'). I hope to weather the storm and support others (students and staff), alas I know I must hold true to my values and sanity. Hence, some requests will be meet with no. Really hoping to keep a good balance as the students noticed the stress most of us have been under and may roll into the initial start next fall.

@Daryl Williams Jr. Hard to say. I do know I'm only slotted for 3 different preps this coming year opposed to 4* (the repeat class needs much different help and work so really 5). To add to the excitement, the district is letting go of about 50 support staff scatted at various schools and offices. Sadly, it will effect the Wellness Center which has benefitted many students since it was opened.
PD That Actually Fills You
Professional development shouldn’t feel like punishment. This week, think beyond what’s required and ask yourself: What kind of growth do I actually want? Choose one PD goal that feels exciting or nourishing to you—not just another task on your to do list. Then share it with the community. What’s your summer PD focus? Bonus points if you drop a great book, course, or podcast recommendation.

I really would like to play with various AI sites to modify current lessons, assignments, and assessments to liven up the curriculum. I envision a bit of chaos at the start as having options will be new for kids and I, but really see the potential to reach more students with material they relate with and feel challenged with (without overwhelming them or making 'easy')

@Daryl Williams Jr. Unfortunately, the district has it blocked at school. I have played a bit at home, but limiting that time for I could see myself getting wrapped up in doing too much on my time with the family and myself
Burnout Inventory and Reset Plan
Burnout is real and dangerous. This week, let’s reflect on the burnout warning signs we’ve personally experienced. Then, build your Reset Plan: list 3 things you’ll do this week to protect your energy and rebuild. Whether it’s a 10 minute walk, journaling, or an early night’s sleep—what’s on your list? Comment your Reset Plan below.

1. Catch a ballgame (prefer live with my wife, but we do have MLB.TV). 2. Be outside, whether miniature golf in our backyard, hiking/biking in park, or a walk around the block. 3. Play with the cats (3 of them). One is more than happy to jump into our arms from almost anywhere (yes, dangerous, but always followed by the best purrrrs)

@Daryl Williams Jr. Grew up on White Sox (South side) and Dodgers. Still like them, though being in SF during their title run spoiled me a bit (something about being in a 15 story hospital and feeling it shake when they won). Generally, I simply enjoy the game (as long as the Cubs lose)😜
Let the Shirt Speak for You
If you could wear or design a shirt to wear, what would it say. Your shirt could be an intro into your lesson for the day, a conversation starter in your classroom or the halls, or a stand against injustice you see every day. What quote, poem, symbol, or image would you choose and why?
