Missing work vs Makeup Work
Here is something that’s been on my mind for a while… how do you handle student makeup work vs missing work. Nothing gets to my soul more than a student who I know comes to school everyday, chooses not to do work and when it’s time to get grades ask how they can bring their grade up….ABSOLUTELY NOTHING… and even if I did allow you to make it up… you can only do it during my office hours..Personally, I need to see you do the work. On the flip side Missing work is for students who were actually missing from class… and even that has a time limit and has to be done in my office hours. I felt like I needed to get that off my chest lol… but what are your policies or thoughts towards makeup and missing work?

@Lori Henderson I couldn’t agree more. I am a fair believer in you get what you earned. Honestly I’m ok with retakes if I believe you truly understand the concept and are fixing an assignment based upon my feedback. However the use of AI to comple an assignment and then fail an assessment will never sit well with me
Where has Daryl been?!?
Life has been busy!!! As soon as The Complete 180 Conference ended, I flew to Philly to kickoff the NSTA Conference, and then flew to Eastern Illinois University to kickoff their conference as well. I am finally back home, and back at school, ready to end the year strong. Here is a snippet of an interview I did during my time in Philly about what it means to be 99% Human, and 1% Amazing. PS. Shout-out to @D C for the restaurant recommendations while I was in Philly! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5E0ZRQ_IlA

Help!
How do you approach your mentor teacher and let them know you are struggling? *backstory* I am a special education teacher at a private school in a classroom with 9 students who are all at different academic levels. I am getting my master this year so have to student sped student teaching. My mentor teacher has been really hard on me changing everything I’m doing, and telling me what I need to work on but I feel like I’m too afraid to ask for help. She mentions it on all my forms so far that I don’t ask for help cause I feel I should have all the answers but when I approach her I get nervous and flustered and forget my questions. So how would you handle this? I really wanna be successful but feel like my own nerves and anxiety stop me.*

@Marena Kelley instead of asking for “help” have you asked you mentor to actually model what it is they are making you change or asking you to do?
