Last Fig Cutting to root! Took close to 6 months. Almost tossed it months ago. I probably would have but I’ve been so busy. It started fruiting before it had any leaves!

@Renee McCready I use peat moss and perlite 50/50, then add about an inch of perlite to the top to keep fruit flies at bay
Tomato Bed 1 Installed
My Memorial Day weekend allowed me to plant a 60 tomato plant test bed using Living Soil techniques under Mr. Dennis guidance. This was a predominately dead clay uncovered area with low lying weed cover last year. I started in January by hauling in a few scoops of mushroom compost; not the best choice because of lingering salts although only thing available in my area. I let the rain leach it for a couple months and then broad forked into the clay. I used second year seed and started the plants indoors beginning of April. I used an auger bit to set the plants so clay and compost mixed some about 6" deep as I set the plants. We identified that the engineered soil from last year had the best microbial life so after planting I made an extract with soil and worm castings dousing each plant with a couple cups after a light rain. Last night it rained again to help the critters slide into their new home. I plan to douse weekly for the first few months to increase microbial activity going forward. I set up drip irrigation to be sure the microbes have water to drink with the compost providing some aeration. This week I will bring in a couple scoops of hardwood mulch to put a roof over their head. Lets see how it goes... clay as my base.
