As The Pendulum Swings
This is a piece I wrote, inspired by the pendulum on campus with which I was enamored. One day, in the dread before algebra, I wondered what the tempo of the pendulum might be in 4/4. I calculated it, and the theme came to me. Here is the MuseScore link https://musescore.com/user/86684224/scores/37766870?share=copy_link Please feel free to share your thoughts. Thanks!

Ive been listening to various Fugues from various composers across the spectrum. And I have to say that I have always be fascinated by the structure of a Fugue. It has been interesting listening to not only Bach, but Beethoven grand fugue for string quartet, to Mozart s Adagio and Fugue, and to Bloch 1st Concerto Grosso, last movement. And while each are a gem in their own right, I am still so fascinated by the Fugues of J.S. Bach.

@Darin Meyer I love the Rachmanioff piano concerto no 2 in C minor. The second movement still brings me to tears sometimes.
AI?! 😭 😁🥰🤮

How are ya' FEELIN' about AI ? Terrified? Excited? Angry? Wanting to throw a grand piano off an 11 story building? Curious to hear your thoughts Share them below 👇

I've had mixed feelings about this. So I tried an ai program. I told it the instruments I wanted, told it my general feelings I wanted hear in the song and the length and pressed go. What came back to me was a short piece that sure sounded exactly as I described it, however it was not authentic. It was missing a genuine, a composers originality, some you knew spent years studying music, its form, its theory, and overall that feeling you get from authentic piece written by a composer who put thier blood, sweat, and heart that makes a piece of music thrive, resilient, and pure. I feel, personally, that if it was used as the "norm" more people just do what I discussed above and then claim it as their own. I could see possibly using ai to put to get exercises that would allow me to use with my student tailored to them or for a classroom activity. Which it would not been their own because all they did was insert some "parameters" and clicked enter. When a person takes the time to sit, draw a road map of how they want their piece to look and feel, hears and writes down, on paper (I'm old fashioned) they can change the structure from what they first thought. There is more creativity this way because a composer has so many tools at their discretion to use.

@Tom Schneider I totally agree with you
You're invited...
Hello my dear tortured composers! Tomorrow (Saturday), October 10th, I'm hosting a live "co-composing flow." What is a "co-composing flow" you ask? We'll meet here, in this community, on camera. For the first 5 minutes, everyone will say what they are going to be working on... Then we will all mute and for 50 minutes, compose together! Then for 5 minutes at the end, we will all go around and say how it went. There could be some hangs at the end... Now, you might be wondering why on earth I would do this... Well, sometimes it can be hard to find the time to compose. Jobs, family, life can just get in the way. And composing can get relegated to the dust bin. But when you have a specific time with other people... Showing up becomes something you have to do! You can tell the people in your life, ‘Sorry, I have a call!’ It's a way of "carving out" that time to work on what is important, but not necessarily urgent. It is the same reason some people get a "workout buddy." Sometimes, if you don't feel like going to the gym, having that other person helps you get moving. Bring your favorite snacks and a piece of music you've been working on! Or start something new... Tomorrow at 6:30 PM EST for one hour... It'll be a hootin' hollerin' barrel of monkeys I dare say! Comment below with what you’ll be working on so I know how many chairs to set out (and how much food to bring). Cameras welcome but not required. Come lurk and work if that’s your speed. Here's the link to join: https://www.skool.com/live/qRSBYcPFhTJ You can also find it in the "calendar" tab! Can't join? No worries, I am going to keep hosting these at various times. Let's make some music!

Work on finishing the first movement of String Quartet in F minor
I want to get YOUR music played…
My dearest composer, I wanna help you get your music used in a movie, a play, TV show or a video game. (or wherever is most appropriate for your music) Idea 💡 Plenty of composers have a folder of sketches that never got a final mix. Others finished the music, but the inbox stays silent. A finished reel is the map. Someone who hires is the door (to getting your music played). If I were to help you finish a demo reel (and show you a proven "system" for finishing music) … 📽️📀🎧 ...and open doors🚪to the people who hire composers I'd... 👉 Walk you through finishing your demo reel on weekly 1 on 1 call 👉 Teach you the "Music Machine" system that will let you finish more music than you ever thought possible 👉 Show you the Giving Funnel, a simple way to reach out to producers by giving first 👉 Actively look for real connections in whatever musical world you're hoping to work in ➕ Access to VIP Freedom to Compose for 6 months(F~R~E~-E) Nothing to buy today. I'm just testing the idea. Would you be open to it? If I opened up ONE SPOT... And set it up 👉 AUCTION STYLE 👈 With $1 minimum bid 🎯 👉👉👉 Would YOU bid for at least $1 ❓ Vote below!

I would like to finish a string quartet I literally started 5 years ago and for personal reasons put it to the side where it sits today
