Guitar Workout of the Day 1 (G-WOD 1)
***FULL PRACTICE SESSION INSIDE*** For the rest of the month of March - to go along with our March Challenge I’m going to post a Guitar Workout of the Day (G-WOD) These are designed to give you something to work on to move toward playing the song(s) for this month’s challenge. You can play them exactly as they are written, modify them to be more difficult, or simplify them if they are difficult. To keep it accessible these workouts will be 10-15 minutes, leaving time at the end of a 20 minute practice session to work on play through the whole song or work on something else. You’ll need 6 things to do the G-WOD - Guitar - Pick - Tuner - Phone/Computer with internet connection - Egg Timer - Metronome To gain points and ‘complete action’ comment on this post and let everyone know how it went! G-WOD 1 Horse With No Name 2 minutes - spider exercise - https://youtu.be/YPzqq40I2h8?si=KtDzpZdKufllBTjr&t=124 6 Minutes Strum pattern 1 from “Horse With No Name” - Em Chord - Every Minute On The Minute increase the tempo by 8 BPM - Start at 60 BPM, unless you feel ultra comfortable at a faster tempo - https://youtu.be/LUiJy6nIFcQ?si=hRSEm455nrJApeEF&t=170 6 Minutes Strum pattern 1 from “Horse With No Name” - Horse Chord - Every Minute On The Minute increase the tempo by 8 BPM - Start at 60 BPM, unless you feel ultra comfortable at a faster tempo - https://youtu.be/LUiJy6nIFcQ?si=uPysXZccmFqNJNiQ&t=207

This really helped
Do you bring your guitar to work?
So I wanted to share a little story. I'm about 2 years into my guitar journey and between military life and having a family, finding time to practice is difficult. So what I started doing is bringing my guitar to work. I show up a little early and get in a good practice session to start my day off doing something I love. This has made such a big difference in my playing because 1. It's a great start to the day and 2. I'm practicing pretty much every day now. Obviously, don't do anything that would jeopardize your job, but if your able, I would highly recommend it. Happy Strumming.
