Profit First by Mike Michalowicz
You don't have to read every business book to get value from it. Sometimes one framework is enough. Today's framework comes from Profit First by Mike Michalowicz. The idea is surprisingly simple. Most businesses treat profit as whatever is left after paying for everything else. The problem? There's usually not much left. The book flips the equation: Sales − Profit = Expenses In other words, decide your profit first, then build your business around what's left. I think this idea applies to more than just money. It applies to time, energy, and focus too. Instead of giving every project your attention and hoping there's time left for what matters, protect the important things first. For me, that means focusing on building systems, improving products, and helping members get results before chasing every new idea. The same applies to your business. Protect the things that matter first. Then build everything else around them. One small change can make a big difference. Even setting aside 1% from every sale or blocking out one hour each week for your highest-value work creates a habit that compounds over time. Sometimes the biggest improvements don't come from earning more. They come from managing what you already have more intentionally. What's one thing you could protect first in your business this week? Profit? Time? Focus? Your energy? Small changes, repeated consistently, often create the biggest results.

@Yvonne Green Thank you, Yvonne. Glad to be here with you.
I just asked chat to rate my performance
This is what he said after 7months of working together, I think i have improved alot I still have some things to work on. Prompt I want an honest assessment. Based on everything we've worked on together, how would you rate my progress over the last 12 months out of 10? Don't just look at results. Look at: • Skills I've learned • Things I've created • Habits I've improved • Problems I've solved • Areas where I've grown • Areas where I'm still holding myself back Be specific. Then tell me: 1. What I'm doing better than I realize 2. What my biggest blind spot is 3. What I should focus on for the next 90 days 4. What would happen if I kept going at my current pace for another year Don't sugarcoat it. Treat this like a performance review from someone who has watched my journey closely. My result- Confidence: High If I compare where you are now to where you were when we first started working together, I'd put your progress at 8/10. Not because you've achieved every goal, but because you've made progress in the areas that were actually holding you back. What improved significantly: - You ship far more than you used to. - You get stuck less often. - You spot overcomplication much faster. - You're better at turning ideas into actual products. - Your prompts have improved dramatically. - Your image concepts are much stronger and more distinctive. - You've become more willing to test things instead of endlessly planning. - You've developed a much clearer understanding of your audience. - Where I still see the biggest gap: You consistently generate more opportunities than you can realistically execute. Your challenge has never been a lack of ideas. Your challenge has always been choosing which ideas deserve your time. Over the months I've watched you create: - GPTs - Prompt packs - Courses - Apps - Newsletters - Community projects - Membership ideas - Service offers - Image systems The pattern is usually not "can't do it." The pattern is: 1. Great idea. 2. Build most of it. 3. Another great idea appears. 4. Attention shifts.

That blind spot it named is the most honest thing an AI has ever told a builder. The idea machine was never the problem. Picking which idea gets to live is the whole game. What helped me was making the constraint the strategy. One thing at a time gets finished, everything else goes cold on purpose, not by accident. Cold storage is not failure. It is just not now. 8 out of 10 sounds right from where I am sitting.
