🚨 UPDATES 🚨
What's up everybody! I've been really really busy. Just getting some breathing room. buuutttt I GOT UPDATES 1. Just had my first event! (Photos attached) It was really really dope. I haven't forgot about y'all who's asked about joining the event I wanted to make sure it would actually be worth sharing to more than the 6 people who attended. (reviews below) 2. Also I talked to Videographer today and he was complaining about not being able to find the right people. This is what I told him – "hire your peers" – we all know someone that is on our level. Those are the people we need to hire – but they cost more so guess what... We gotta charge more. 3.Update on the 14 day course to get videographers started – I'm recording videos this week and getting them uploaded so be on the lookout for them. I've had it on pause bc business picked up a lot. We're still busy but we had to grow and get some help. That's all the updates I got. What have ya'll been up to ?

Happy for you, Ryant, that your event went great!
Lessons Learned from Hiring Editors the Past two weeks
Whats up ya'll – the last couple of weeks I had to hire editors because our workload got crazy. We had so good (and bad) things result from this & I just want to share it with you quickly. 1. Giving footage to an editor with no direction can be hit or miss. Try your best to explain clearly with references what you are looking for 2. Ask them to send you the first 15 - 30sec of the video to make sure you are aligned. This saved me hours on the back end. 3. If you can't give a clear vision - make the revision process plain by giving them your top adjustments/tweaks. its better to get an important 6 changes out the way vs 72 changes that rebuild the whole video Have any of you hired a new editor to edit something for you? What insights can you add?

Thank you, @Ryant Nelson , for sharing about your experience - I agree with all your points. My experience has been with hiring editors for projects in my film production company. I'd usually review their portfolios, not just with the edited final outcome, but also what did they start from, to understand their abilities. I'd usually sit by them, together with the film director - if it was a new editor. And for a new editor, all elements - style - slow mo, fast speed, cut dynamics, etc - would be stated very precisely. With editors we are familiar with we usually give the footage, style references, the duration of the final edit - and usually this requires very few revisions after the first proposal. For social media/ youtube things are a bit different - the editor also works on the supers, cards, colour correction, VFX/ SFX, possibly sound. In the film production work these are done by several different professionals. If I had to hire an editor to do my videos for social media now, I am sure I'd be very frustrated in the beginning and a pain in the a.. :) But I'd expect both of us to learn in the process and find our rhythm. Yes, to my last words - not just the rhythm, but for me also matters the chemistry I have with my collaborators, whether we connect in person or online.
Busy week for me
Hey guys, it's a busy week for me and so I'm in and out. (we got 2 events accross 3 days and we are training a new videographer & a new executive assistant) I'm trying to check in on here every day and make sure to follow up on your comments, but if it takes me a little more than a day to get around to you, I promise that I will definitely get around to your post. Just giving you a heads up. Love ya'll

Question
When to brand your videos and photos and when not to?
1 like • Aug 25
If you have an established brand, and you want protection of your work, plus you choose a specific channel, you are safe to do it. But if you intend to use your content across different platforms, you may get need to keep unbranded versions. Also, if you brand/domain is likely to change, don’t brand your video or photo content. (I’ve done it, and now I see my evergreen content with old websites domains).
