My TEDx Talk Is Live — and It Starts With a 16-Year-Old Girl With No Map
My TEDx talk is live. In the talk I share a three-step framework to help you move forward even when the path is invisible, because most of us have been conditioned to wait for the complete map before we dare to begin. If you have ever felt parked in the driveway of your own life, this one is for you. Also, if you’re willing to like and leave a comment, it really helps the YouTube algorithm get this message to more people. I truly appreciate your support. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGki_UYls0I

A couple more tips for Cohort 3 Semifinalists
It was a pleasure meeting so many Cohort 3 semifinalists!! I am wishing you all the best of luck and thought of a few pointers that I forgot to share yesterday: -Before falling in love with your talk and title, google it to see what's out there already. This topic will be your intellectual property, and you want to make you can own it if you want to create a signature talk, book, etc. And choose topics that haven't been said a million times. -While you can share some of your story, this big idea is for your audience more than anything. Think what they will get out of listening to it? Think less motivation and more transformation Best of luck! Here is my talk, Pleasure Ain't The Problem, Shame Is which just dropped this past Friday! Please watch, like, comment and share, share, share!! Thanks!! https://youtu.be/Lj18td1AnrE?si=hYwZWbLMqjkzORAv

@Nikquan Lewis 1. Focus on the audience. 1a. What's problem are you solving for them? 1b. What would be one, two, three or five things that they can take away to better their lives? 2. Remember that our story (although powerful) should be the supporting element, and not the main element. 3. Join the bootcamp - the mentors and coaches on the bootcamp have lots of experience and they can tell you quickly if your idea needs work or may run into editorial issues.
Are the folks in Houston okay?
Good morning, I was watching the local NY news last night and learned about the tornado in Houston. I wanted to check in on Durrel and all of the others who live in Houston. Is everyone okay? Praying you are all safe this Thanksgiving Eve. Please let us know that you are safe. Kind regards, Tracy

Hi Tracy, it touched down about 40 minutes northwest of where we met during media day. No injuries, just a lot of damages. Texas is notorious for having tornadoes. I can't recall the many times my family had to sleep on the first floor, all in a central room because of tornado warnings. And, one time, I saw a tornado tunnel touching down in the distance while driving on the freeway. All the cars pulled over and hunkered down on the side of the road.
Authors?
Yesterday at the Big Idea Mixer, Dr. @Emily Jamea gifted me a copy of her book Anatomy of Desire: Five Secrets to Create Connection and Cultivate Passion. It got me thinking… how many of our TEDxThirdWard volunteers, semifinalists, alumni, and supporters are authors too? If you’ve written a book, I’d love for you to drop your link below so we can celebrate your work and share it with the community. Let’s keep lifting each other up and showing just how many big ideas are coming out of this circle.
