Work, Rest or Play? -Yes
Very much enjoying this sweet new direction I'm travelling lately! (pun intended) I started doing food renders kinda by accident as exploration but maybe it will become something more. I mean, wouldn't it be so cool to have my delicious art on candy packaging, in a catalog, a memu, or even on a poster at the bus stop?! 🤓

Super proud of this render. I used to eat these with my Grandma when I was a kid. Do you remember ROLOs? The ad with the elephant and the boy sticks with me even now 😂 Lots of downtime this month as I got sick, but still managed to either play, practice or research most days. I'm super proud of this piece, I think it's the best render I have ever done to date.

@Jason Batchelor I haven't seen them at my local IGA (but that's not saying much 😅)
THE CONTENT CYCLE WE ALL GET STUCK IN
"I'm finally going to lock in on content and post every day!" and then you proceed to stick to the plan for 2 and a half weeks, the content you planned starts to give you the ick and you ghost your account for the next 2 months. And the cycle repeats itself. Does anyone know this cycle and how to break it? Because I am lost 🥲

Daily is too high pressure, start smaller. Remember that you can control output but you can't control things like views or interactions so dtry not to get too attached to those vanity metrics. Reward yourself for keeping consistent and make sure you recognise your effort (eg posted every week for a month? congratulate yourself, give yourself something nice, a cupcake or an extra guilt free hour to read that book you love.) this builds confidence and proof that you can. And as you get used to that you can increase output over time. Keep it sustainable and honest. And it's okay to take a break here and there

@Jason Batchelor I have phases of content creation. I was a YouTuber back in 2016 ish. Took a long break, came back after 5 years. A lot of my old fans were still there, amazing. But the game changed massively and learning the new system while trying to also learn and do business was extremely difficult and emotionally draining. I learned a lot the hard way. Consistancy doesn't just mean regular, it means when you do show up, you are still you. Your audience are human too, they understand you have a life just as they do and don't expect you to be a content machine 24/7

Creating 3d food because it makes me smile and I get to eat delicious reference material.. For research purposes 🤣🤤. Unfortunately you can't eat these images because they will just taste like pixels. The freddo frog render still has me wanting to lick the screen tho 🤤😋

2026 Focus, learning Blender3D
So, it took me a good week to really nail down what I want to achieve this year. Last year was really rough, with everything going on on multiple fronts I got depressed and and struggled to find enjoyment and drive to go on creating. So this year I am stepping back from constant product production and investing more time in playful growth. The tool I am choosing for this is Blender. I'm a 3d artist who uses zbrush to create models that can be made into real life physical collectable figurines. I want to use Blender to create better renders of my digital work as well as to create fun silly pictures, play with effects and make things move. My hope for 2026 is to expand my skillset and open new opportunities for paid work with these new skills. Here is the render it all starts with. A strong start, I followed a tutorial for the marshmallows, everything else is my entirely own work 😊 What are you working towards this year?

@Alexandra Smith I hear a lot of people start with the donut tutorial from blender guru. If nothing else it will be good to watch the first video of the most recent 2026 donut tutorial so you can learn how to navigate. My personal learning style is to give myself a small project to work on. Like "I want to create a model of sonic the Hedgehog" or "I want to recreate my bedroom in 3d" and then I will work towards that and research solutions to specific problems I come across during those projects. It can be frustrating, but you know what you are aiming for, you learn from the struggle way more than following direct instructions and you gain skills in problem solving so that in the future you will be able to aproach any task knowing you will be able to work out a way eventually. that kind of confidence tutorials just can't teach you.

@Sheena McInnes I followed you back. Love the close up flowers on your recent videos. Did you take the photos yourself?
