What's one area of flute you still want to learn more about?
1) What's one area of flute you still want to learn more about, especially this year? 2) Do you have a plan for learning it? If so, do you mind sharing? We already have such a wealth of knowledge represented in the membership here! I'm super curious to see how the Classroom and Live Calls evolve. Hope we can get some of our questions answered.

Teaching tips - how to form an embouchure, how to tackle second and 3rd octave notes....flute playing is such an "inner" process that I'm always looking for any fun tricks! Oh, a student of mine asked about dry mouth while playing - any good remedy for that? 🙏

@Vic Wheeler thank you!
What is this?
This started as a simple question and turned into a great discussion. We’re continuing it here so it doesn’t disappear. If you’ve played it, taught it, or think about it differently, share below.

Is someone looking for identifying the piece or has that been done already? It's from a Telemann Canonic Sonata.

@Vic Wheeler my first band director was like that - I couldn't get a sound out and was told to play clarinet or oboe but I stuck to flute because I wanted to be with my friends....😅 And then when I had my first private lesson on flute I couldn't stop smiling while hearing my teacher play because her sound was so gorgeous and I had at that point never heard anything like that before. So I want to bring those "ah ha" moments to people and let them enjoy the sound and beauty of flute playing.
Welcome
This space is for flutists who want to think clearly, share honestly, and build their craft together. There is no roadmap posted yet. We will start by doing the work and paying attention to what takes shape. If you are here early, introduce yourself however you like. You can also just read for a bit. We will build from there.
