Oh boy, today just about got away from me!
I'm about to go to bed just now and it hits me! I did the upload and all that jazz, but I didn't send it out! So here I am, in my pajamas, talking to you about a new 5-minute lesson all about spread triads! Lesson link here: https://www.skool.com/intermediate-guitar/classroom/4000ef63?md=83e603e9f93e4067ac092a6fd0a9d648 Give these puppies a try! They sound really cool and are easy to play to boot! Sound like Eric Johnson! Sound like Pat Matheny! Sound like someone who knows how to use spread triads to sound more melodic with almost no extra effort! I'm going to bed now. See you Friday with another one! -Ben

Finding the notes and making some melodies - our selection of backing tracks could keep me busy for a while 😆 🎸

Backing Track tutorials. Yay or Nay?
So I saw @Mike Abalos's post from yesterday and it gave me an idea about some of our backing tracks posted in here so far. I originally made them a bit more complex than your normal run-of-the-mill backing tracks, because they are more fun to play over. It didn't cross my mind at the time, not everyone will be able to get into them right away (they all have some sort of modal interchange, meaning they change keys inside each bar). So I thought, "hey, what if I made like, a little tutorial and play a little bit over them, so someone could get an idea on how to approach them?" So here we are, and I would love a little feedback! Is this something you guys and gals are into? We are working on more backing tracks right now for the community as well, so you should see more soon-ish. Let me know! -Ben P.S.- You can watch down below, but I also made a page for it, along with scale diagrams, in the classroom section titled "Free Backing Tracks". Killer playing, but too fast for me to follow. I understand the concepts, but I am so very slow in execution. :(
Blues Music (Beginner Tutorial)
Blues music means a lot of different things to a lot of different people, and in some arenas it's just considered "Southern Rock". This "Blues - Shuffle" type - 12 Bar Blues song, is a what some may even call a standard in it's own right. Some people will spend their entire lives attempting to perfect these rhythms. It's easy to understand why. The solo availability, the jam sessions, the recognizable tunes and of course your undeniable ability to catch the beat and throw down with a couple dance moves. But this is no ordinary 4/4 beat or even a waltz in the park... No... This is the 12 Bar Blues rhythm. It demands focus attention and respect. It's music can elevate your mood or go down with you into the slums. Whatever you're feeling, the Blues can be a guiding light Give this a try and let me know that it makes sense to you. Got something to add or want to try it yourself? Please do. I did this as "Live" as possible, and wanted to tread lightly around the hyper specific theory talk. I know you've got what it takes. Listen to me mess it up a few times and then you give it a go yourself and let's see if we can't hone it in together! As our new friend Ted says - Peace ✌🏽 and loud guitars 🎸 🙏🏽 We'll catch you in the comments.

In some circles this is known as the “silent” 12 bar blues progression.
