I started the 3rd chapter in my near future science-fantasy novel. My career-driven protagonist can’t stand that she has a work crush: “A steamy cascade of water pelted my skin, my thoughts replaying the past month and a half. For the most part, my new role was tolerable, though liking it hardly mattered. I was only there to build a reputation that would heighten my credibility. I tilted my head back, letting the spray drift down in waves, and reminded myself of the important tasks for this week. My main focus was on the projects I had recently been assigned. I had just started to lather the patchouli and jasmine scented soap across my body when thoughts of him invaded my mind like a Trojan Horse.”
