This post is for Non-Profit CEOs but even if you have an LLC please read because you will do something similar so you can describe in your grant proposal when applying for grants. Let’s get this clear… When you’re asking for donations or writing a grant, you cannot be vague. Saying:👉 “We need support for families” Is not enough. You have to show people: exactly what’s missing and exactly how you’re helping. I had a conversation tonight that really inspired me, and I want to share this with anyone building a nonprofit or thinking about starting one… 👉🏽 Host a Prom Dress Giveaway / “Prom Closet” Experience This is something nonprofits across the country are already doing — collecting gently used prom dresses, shoes, and accessories, then giving them away to young girls for FREE. But here’s the part I want you to really see… This is not just about dresses. This is about:• confidence• dignity• making young girls feel seen and celebrated • supporting those who may be coming from difficult situations 💡 How you can execute this: • Start a donation drive (dresses, shoes, accessories) • Partner with local churches, salons, schools, and community centers • Set a date (May or June is perfect timing) • Create a “boutique-style” experience where girls can come shop for free ✨ Turn it into a full experience: Hair. Makeup. Photos. Encouragement. Now you’re not just running a program…You’re creating a moment they will never forget. And for those of you learning grants 👀YES — this is the kind of program that:• attracts sponsors• brings in community support• can be written into a grant proposal I want you all thinking bigger about how your mission can show up in REAL life.
