Hi
Hi my name is Tanya from south west uk. I own a shoe shop and have 2 amazing teens - the youngest my 14yo girl has just had her formal diagnosis of adhd and it’s been a bit like holding up a mirror! Hoping this will help me unravel, understand and allow myself some rest and peace!
I just cried!
Section 2 of my Snapshot just hit different. I realised illness is the only time my brain goes quiet, and I've started to crave that. Apparently that's not weakness or weirdness - it's a nervous system that's never been given permission to rest without earning it through suffering. Wild thing to see in writing.

@Nichola G thank you - looking forward to this bringing some healthy rest!
Wow!
Just got my ADHD Snapshot and one line stopped me cold: illness has been the only socially acceptable reason I've ever given myself to stop. At 49, watching my daughter get diagnosed at 14, I'm finally seeing that my pattern of needing everything to be BIG, the constant chatter, the eating to quiet my brain - none of it is character flaw. It's a systems-thinking mind that's never been given permission to rest. The pattern stops with me.
Snapshot section 1 insights
Just finished the first section of my ADHD Snapshot and realised something I'd never put together before: all that "flitting between friend groups" at school wasn't me being sociable, it was me masking so no one saw the whole of me. 49 years old and only just naming it, partly because my 14 year old has just been diagnosed. So many aha moments already.
