Hey all! I started several months ago but never got to tie my laces before having to pause for some medical issues, but now I am back! I work in Northern Nevada and my "day job" is for the State in Rural Public Health and my passion project is a concierge practice with a group of Physical Therapists (I am the only NP with 3 Physical Therapists) where I see patients on the weekend and after hours. We see a lot of sports minded folks and athletes with the PT side of things, but I have begun to see more men and women related to hormone concerns and sexual health lately. My background is in maternal child, occupational medicine, ER and endocrinology. I didn't find functional medicine, it found me. I have always been a curious person and my favorite word is "why". This did not bode well for me in our standard healthcare environment as there is no time to ask "why" let alone wait for the answer. My 8 hours days as an NP were always 12-16 hours because I asked too many questions and could never leave well enough alone. When I opened my passion project and could set my own time with patients and actually ask questions it was life changing! I would love to get my BC for functional medicine to help validate for my own imposter syndrome brain and for my patients. But more than that I want to be able to grow my concierge client base and help more people with their longstanding health concerns. I also want to make a second business (likely telehealth) where I can provide more sexual health counseling to go along with the hormonal support because this is an underserved area for people but yet so impactful to overall health and wellness.
