DAY 1 DISCUSSION: Did You Start a Bakery or Just Start Selling?
Welcome to our first Bakery Business Lab discussion! If you've completed Day 1 of "You Started a Bakery. Now What?", you've probably started thinking about your business a little differently. Now I want to hear from you! First, how did your bakery actually begin? Did you have a business plan? Or did someone tell you your desserts were amazing and you should start selling them? Second, what's ONE thing you want your bakery to accomplish in the next 12 months? It doesn't have to be a huge goal. It just needs to be YOUR goal. And if you're comfortable sharing, tell us what's currently standing in your way. Remember, we're not here to compete with one another. We're here to learn from each other's experiences and build better businesses together. I'll be reading your responses and jumping into the conversations! Haven't completed Day 1 yet? Head to Classroom → Bakery Marketing & Sales → You Started a Bakery. Now What? to get started. The entire series is FREE!

I have been baking for 25 plus years as a single mom of five kids. What started as a holiday tradition .. became a way to gift my items to family, friends & neighbor for different celebrations/ gifts/ holidays.Everyone loved my treats! And I heard for years you should sell this! Two years ago, life threw me a curve ball and well now I need the income this can possibly generate. So far I’m not where I need to be .. it’s costing me more than I’m earning. I love making fudge , treats and cookies. I’m kinda known for my holiday party platters & everyone has a favorite that I make.
Let's stir the pot a little. 👀
What's an unpopular bakery opinion you have that you're willing to defend? Maybe you think decorated sugar cookies are overrated. Maybe you refuse to put cream cheese frosting on cinnamon rolls. Maybe you think farmers markets aren't worth the effort. Whatever it is, I want to hear it! And don't just drop your opinion and run. Let's talk about WHY. I'll be in the comments with mine, too!

I think events are over rated! Church events fall flat as far as $. And I truly want to support businesses and churches. It’s just not profitable for my business.
NEW HERE? WELCOME TO BAKER'S INSIDER!
First, I just want to say WOW! I certainly wasn't expecting my recent cottage bakery reel to get the attention it has, and I'm so excited to see so many new faces joining us! If you're one of them, WELCOME! I'm genuinely happy you're here! For those who don't know me yet, I'm the creator of Boujie Bites, and while I absolutely LOVE developing over-the-top desserts, something I'm even more passionate about is helping other bakers build successful businesses. Because here's what I believe: Knowing how to bake and knowing how to SELL what you bake are two completely different skill sets. And that's a big part of why Baker's Insider exists! SO, WHERE SHOULD YOU START? Head over to the Classroom, where you'll find several resources to help you grow. GROW YOUR BAKERY This is a great starting point for bakers who want to better understand the business side of things. You'll find educational resources and guidance to help you build a stronger foundation for your bakery. BAKERY MARKETING & SALES This section is BRAND NEW and very much a work in progress! We're diving into things like understanding your customers, creating content that actually helps generate sales, standing out in a crowded market, and learning how to turn interest into orders. I'm actively building this section, so you'll see new lessons added as we go! FREE RECIPES & RESOURCES You'll also find our Recipe Index and other baking resources throughout the Classroom. Because while we're learning how to grow our businesses, we can still have some fun in the kitchen! NOW, HERE'S SOMETHING NEW I'M WORKING ON! After reading through your comments and questions on my recent reel, I realized something. So many bakers are struggling, but they're not all struggling with the same things! Some can't find customers. Some have customers but aren't making a profit. Some don't know what to post. Some are overwhelmed trying to figure out where to even begin. And I don't want you to have to dig through a bunch of lessons hoping to find the one that helps you.

Hi I’m struggling to get constant sales. I have a website ( two actually), a fb business page, I’m in a local business store front as well. I also tried vendor events which did better but not great! I struggle with pricing. Cause if I price for my time, overhead , packaging and ingredients it’s too expensive for my “ cheap” town. I keep lowering prices and still nothing. But everyone raves over my products.. best ever! Meanwhile .. I’m not selling to cover anything.

DAY 4 BUSINESS LAB: Where Are Your Customers Coming From?
Welcome back to the Bakery Business Lab! Today's lesson in our FREE 5-day business planning series tackles something I see SO many home bakers struggling with. You know how to MAKE your desserts. But do you have an actual plan to SELL them? Because posting pictures, sharing your menu, and hoping someone places an order isn't really a sales strategy. And neither is waiting for word of mouth to magically bring in customers! A great product doesn't automatically create sales. You need to know WHO you're trying to reach, WHERE to find them, and HOW to give them a reason to buy. That's what we're working on today! LET'S PUT DAY 4 INTO PRACTICE! I want you to think about your current marketing efforts and answer a few questions. 1. Where are most of your customers actually coming from? Facebook? Instagram? Word of mouth? Farmers markets? Local businesses? Repeat customers? If you haven't started selling yet, where do you PLAN to find your first customers? 2. What are you currently doing to actively attract NEW customers? And be honest! Are you following an actual strategy, or are you mostly posting desserts and hoping someone orders? 3. What are you doing to encourage customers to come BACK? Do you have a repeat-customer strategy? Or are you relying on them to remember you the next time they want dessert? TODAY'S BUSINESS DECISION: Choose TWO specific ways you're going to actively attract new customers and ONE way you're going to encourage repeat purchases. Then take ONE action toward putting that plan into practice TODAY. It doesn't have to be complicated! Maybe you'll reach out to a local business, create a post that speaks directly to your ideal customer, or develop a recurring preorder opportunity. The important thing is that you're doing something intentionally, not just waiting for orders to happen. NOW LET'S HELP EACH OTHER! This is where I really want everyone to participate. If you've found a customer acquisition strategy that's worked well for your bakery, SHARE IT!

I’m having a very difficult time. At events I sell, I’m in a store front as well ( that’s hit or Miss a lot of times), I have fb business page, two websites. And everyone that tries our products rave. Best ever. I just don’t get constant sales!
