The “Nice-Nasty” Mask — When Politeness Hides Poison
💡 You know what I mean. No... O.k. Ever meet someone who sounds polite, but the undertone stings? That’s the “nice-nasty” at play. It shows up as sugar-coated criticism, backhanded compliments, or a smile with daggers underneath. It makes me suspicious of intent, others simply uncomfortable. It’s not just about personality — it’s a self-esteem issue. 👉 Aggression wrapped in niceness is often a shield for insecurity. I know this to be true I was the champ. Yes, I was trying to hurt you and I knew it. 🎯This week I'm going to talk about Self esteem.🎯 Resource: Worksheet Case Study: My words were polished, but my tone dripped with superiority. “Oh, you did it that way? Interesting.” I wasn’t cruel outright — but everyone felt smaller around me. The truth? My self-esteem was shaky. I didn’t trust that my worth stood on its own, so I armored myself with subtle jabs to stay “above” others. Always on the lookout for an intruder that could bust my huge ego bubble. Not today sir....... 🎯 How to Recognize “Nice-Nasty” in yourself. 1. Compliments that cut: “That dress looks good… for your age.” 2. Polite tone, disrespectful content or reverse. It leaves you feeling smaller, not supported. 3. Sarcasm passed off as “just joking.” 4. A smile that doesn’t match the eyes. 5. Feeling like you have to be armed and dangerous, at all times. 6. Listening for ammo not understanding. 7. Deciding that your past dictates hurting others. 8. Inconsistent body language — smile + dismissive tone. 🔥 4 Action Steps to Stop Being (or Tolerating) “Nice-Nasty” 1. Pause before speaking. Ask: “Is my tone empowering or diminishing?” 2. Name the pattern. If you hear it, calmly say: “That felt dismissive — can we try again?” 3. Practice kind directness. Replace passive-aggressive hints with clear, respectful requests. 4. Strengthen esteem. Daily self-acceptance practice reduces the need to tear others down. 5. What is my intention (honestly). What is the speakers intention? Ask if your not clear. 6. Be honest about your feelings and know what they are.

Whew I needed this reminder myself. Thank you for naming it so clearly. I know exactly what you mean because I’ve been there too playing “nice-nasty” when my own self-esteem was in the gutter. It took a lot of self-work to admit that insecurity was behind my tone, not confidence. I love that you’re opening up this convo on self-esteem this week. Can’t wait to dive deeper, because when we get real about what’s underneath our words, that’s when true healing and growth can happen.

🦋 A Soulful Welcome to Delasber Sanders 🦋
It is with deep honor that I welcome Delasber Sanders into our community — a former educator turned Autism Parent Advocate and Trauma Coach, and the powerhouse founder of Delasber’s Heart, LLC. Delasber’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. As a single mother raising her now 13-year-old daughter with autism, she embodies a strength that truly knows no bounds. Her gift? Its the tenacity, resilience, fierce advocacy, and the rare superpower of accepting people exactly as they are that shocks my system into doing more for others. What inspires me most is not only her expertise — in mental health, advocacy, leadership, and trauma coaching — but also the purity of her heart and the depth of her lived experiences. She takes the reigns holds a safe space, walks with you through the hardest terrains, and helps you see the possibility of light on the other side. I’ve seen the courage she carries and the way her story echoes into the lives she touches — from navigating special needs services to guiding parents through trauma with compassion, clarity, and strength. Listen to what her clients have to say: “In the moments when I felt voiceless, Delasber became my voice. Her wisdom, strength, and compassion turned confusion into clarity and fear into courage.” — ShonNicole Hill, Special Needs Mom & Veteran Delasber, your voice, your fight, and your presence in this community are a gift. 🌸 Please join me in welcoming her with open arms — drop a 🦋 below to celebrate this extraordinary woman and all she represents. 🔗 delasbersheart.com
