Customs Broker?
What are your thoughts on Customs Brokers? It seems that most I have seen work in a forwarding company. Have you seen many solo Custom Brokers or small companies that primarily offer Customs services? How does this compare to you to Freight Brokering? Ofcourse they are two very different things but I would love to hear your thoughts.

@Tonnie Banks being an LCB allows you to act as a broker in some capacities under Map-21, similar to an OFF or NVOCC. Passing the test is really difficult however if it’s something that interests you the cost per entry for a customs broker may outweigh your net gain as a freight broker. Worth looking into for sure!!
Drayage
Let's talk container shipments. Recently I started using chatgpt to quickly find companies in specific locations and industries. While it's certainly not robust and ideal like a ZoomInfo, I can say it's been a pleasant surprise to at least begin research. Beware, chatgpt does make errors. What are your favorite ways to prospect?

Are you looking for carriers? Check out the drayage directory. That has every UIIA carrier listed at a specific port.
Co-Brokering
Good afternoon EVERYONE! I have a question and am hoping I can get a bit of advice as I am a bit new to the industry. I am an active freight broker, and I randomly received an email from another active broker. Small company asking if I would be willing to co-broker for/with them as an independent contractor. I spoke to the fellow and he sounded like a nice guy but in the day we live in I am always skeptical and trust NO ONE. Sooo, he did send me over his blank co- brokering agreement, SAFER snapshot, and his surety bond. Then he requested I send him my W9, surety bond, and for me to send back signed agreement. What I am wondering is has anyone had experience co-brokering? How do I protect myself from being scammed? I have no big red flags that makes me feel like I am getting scammed I am just always skeptical and feel like there is way to stay protected somehow. Should I make up my own contractual agreement to have him sign? What would you do?

@Steven Tittle this is a great question to ask on the co-brokering issue of today. If I see one more FTL/LTL claim where it’s general/high value freight co-brokered I’m gonna lose it!!!
