Sharing Upwork Profile on Social Media
Hello. I’m considering sharing my Upwork profile link on my social media accounts. This would bring traffic to my profile, however, it would mostly be very cold traffic, and only a few people might be interested in my services. Could this hurt my account in any way? Would Upwork consider my profile as “not convertible” if many people visit but no one actually contacts me?

I don’t think there’s much advantage in sharing your Upwork profile on social media. Most projects on Upwork come through bidding—things like submitting proposals, getting them viewed, receiving invites, and your overall profile strength (ratings and earnings) matter the most. Even if you do get some profile views from social media, I don’t think it really helps in a meaningful way. Instead, it’s better to bring your offline clients onto Upwork. This helps you complete projects, build reviews, and strengthen your profile—so when you bid on projects, you have a much better chance of getting hired.
New in Upwork
I am writing to seek guidance on reactivating and optimizing my Upwork profile. Although I created my account several years ago, it has remained inactive while I focused on a full-time role. I am now transitioning back to freelance and project-based work and would like to leverage Upwork to reach a broader, reliable client base. I am a Lead Motion and Visual Designer based in Mumbai, India, with 18 years of experience. My portfolio includes work on 20 Bollywood feature films as well as projects for various national and international brands. My expertise spans the advertising, corporate, social media, film VFX, and event industries, where I serve as a Lead Motion Graphics Designer, Post Supervisor, Video Editor, and now AI Creator. I intend to offer services in the following areas: - Motion graphics - AI-generated images and videos - Real estate drone footage graphics - Event visual design and graphics As I am unfamiliar with the current best practices on the platform, any one help me to provide information or resources on how to effectively update my profile and successfully secure high-quality clients? Thank you for your assistance.

Same thing happen with me. I created my freelancing account around 2017-19 now I started working on it...
My first Upwork proposal got rejected. So did the next 47.
Zero responses. Zero interviews. Zero hope. I was about to quit. But then proposal #48 landed. $150 for a simple WordPress fix. That tiny win changed everything. Not because of the money. But because it broke the pattern of rejection. Here’s what those 47 rejections taught me: 1. Rejection isn’t personal, it’s data Each “no” told me something: ∙ Wrong niche? My proposals improved ∙ Bad timing? I learned to apply faster ∙ Weak profile? I optimized it daily 2. You only need ONE yes to start That first client led to: → A testimonial (my first social proof) → A portfolio piece (my first case study) → Confidence (my first proof I could do this) 3. The game changes after your first review Suddenly: ∙ Clients saw I was “real” ∙ My proposals got opened more ∙ The algorithm started favoring me ∙ My confidence showed in my writing 4. Success isn’t linear, it’s exponential Project 1-10: Grinding for every client Project 11-30: Building momentum Project 31+: Clients started finding ME That $150 project? The client came back 6 times. Total earnings: $8,400. To everyone just starting: Your breakthrough is one proposal away. Not “maybe.” Not “hopefully.” It’s coming. Keep sending. Keep learning. Keep adjusting. The freelancers who make it aren’t the most talented. They’re the ones who refused to quit after rejection #47. What kept you going during your early freelancing struggles? #Freelancing #Upwork #FreelanceJourney #Motivation #NeverGiveUp #UpworkSuccess #FreelanceTips #Persistence
