My breaking moment was when my dog bit another dog at doggy day care, not out of spite but more in a sense of human guarding her favorite worker, resulting in her getting kicked out. I made a vow to myself that day that I wouldn’t let this happen again in any situation, whether it be a person or a dog. It’s been a long process and I am constantly training and improving how I manage her “reactivity.” However, without this incident I don’t think I would’ve pursued training and I’m grateful I did as I now have 2 wonderfully trained dogs and I myself am trained to acknowledge situations that my dogs might question or feel uncomfortable in. Training has allowed us to continue life outside and even enter dog sports without fear of what may happen.
