🍦 July Challenge: Make Your Ice Cream Bowl! 🍦
This month, I want you to make yourself an ice cream bowl. Not just any bowl, but your ice cream bowl.🍨 Create something that feels like you. Experiment. Play with your favorite colors, textures, or decorations. Try something you have always wanted to try. Make it bold, playful, elegant, or weird. Whatever reflects your personality.✨ And make it so unmistakably yours that it practically shouts, “Hands off! This one belongs to me!” 😄 I want you to open your cupboard and instantly know that this is not just another bowl. It is your special bowl, the one you always reach for when it is time for ice cream.🍧 I cannot wait to see what you create. Have fun, be creative, and do not forget to share your bowl with the community!🫶

Kiln advice
I’m hoping to get my first kiln later this year and trying to figure out what size to go for. I’m looking at a 60 litre 15amp as the electrics are more straightforward but wondering if in the long run I’d be better getting the electrics sorted for a bigger option? It will be in a shed at the side of my house. I’d love to hear about people’s experiences and if your first kiln has been your only one? 😁

I have a 70-liter Kittec kiln, and I’m very happy with it. The only thing is that sometimes I wish I had a smaller one, because then I wouldn’t feel so much pressure to fill it up every time. I’d be able to fire smaller loads whenever I wanted. Other than that, I’m really very happy with it.

Newly made mugs
Soo I’ve made some mugs. Already thinking of all the possible glazing combos.

I love the shape 😍
First bisque fire
My first bisque fire was successful! I just emptied it a little on the warm side (~175F) and everything seems to have fared well. I was a little concerned that I’d have major cracking on some of the thicker pieces, but I guess they were dry enough. I have some mugs, some plates/platters, and a lot of kiln cookies and test tiles. I’m hearing some pinging, so I’m guessing something is going to crack, but we’ll see tomorrow! Overall, I’m happy and looking forward to glazing later this week if it’s not too hot in here.

A warm welcome to all our new members 🤍
If you have been quietly reading along so far, feel free to jump in anytime. We would truly love to get to know you and hear your thoughts. You can start simple and just say hi in the comments below. That is always the easiest first step. Take your time to scroll, read, and get a feel for everything. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first when many people already know each other, but do not be shy. We have all been there.🫶 It only takes a small moment of courage, and suddenly you are part of the conversation. So happy to have you here ✨
