What do you grow or like to grow
As you have time, no rush, no worries, please send me what you grow now and what other items you might try to grow in 2026. @Susan Eaton @Manda Jackson @Dar Brown

I usually grow tomatoes, peppers, onions, radish, mixed greens, chard, cabbage, zucchini, bush beans, dill, parsley, basil, potatoes, cucumber, pumpkin and what ever else strikes my fancy at planting time. In Montana, those all go into a summer garden. Here they will be seperated into spring, summer and fall gardens. This location is the same planting zone I had in North Carolina, but the sun is more intense here. So I will have to figure out how to deal with that.

@Jim Flach there is some trees on the west side of the lot and I’ve also thought about planting corn for shade.
Build Your Oasis
Hello Community, I have an idea and wondered what you think. I could make a course named Susan's Oasis, another called Manda's Oasis and another called Dar Oasis. As you post pictures and we research the plants you like to grow as well as how we raise our soil livestock and even your favorite tea blends, I can add those in creating your personal Oasis, kind of a showcase and a learning tool at the same time. What are your thoughts? @Susan Eaton @Manda Jackson @Dar Brown

Please ignore the actions on the site for the next 2 days...
Hello Oasis Builders... I am a member of another site called SkoolYard which is a group of entrepreneurs learning and sharing together helping each other grow. They are having an escape room challenge for fun over the next 2 days. There might be a bunch of activity over the next two days on our site that should be ignored as they elected our site as a safe house for there escape. It might look a little crazy for just two days, so please just ignore and I will clean everything up Friday. Its all in the name of fun and I appreciated your understanding. @Susan Eaton @Manda Jackson @Dar Brown

Welcome
@Susan Eaton @Manda Jackson please meet @Dar Brown coming in from Alaska. Dar, Manda is from Australia and Susan from New Mexico so we are getting started with a broad group of growing climates. Welcome all... this will be a great site for us to learn and share; I appreciate all your input. Merry Christmas, may you and family be filled with grace and make some great memories.

@Dar Brown I’ve never been to Alaska, but I do know a little about windy and cold. I’m originally from the eastern Montana hi-line. We were in the same planting zone as Anchorage.

@Dar Brown wow! So beautiful!
As the Winter Solstice passes
As the winter solstice slips behind us, the light returns without urgency. It comes back the way all resilient things do, faithfully, almost unnoticed. A few more minutes of day. A gentle easing of the cold. Beneath frozen ground, life is already whispering its intentions. This is not a season for hurry. It is a season for trust. The land reminds us that rest is not failure, and stillness is not stagnation, but preparation. Roots grow strong in the dark as garden dreams take shape in the quiet. What is tended softly and patiently will rise with warmth’s blessing. We stand at the turning of the light, where what has been resting begins, little by little, to come alive again.

Not quite a domestic goddess, a little feral and more than a little chaotic. Slow living and emotional regulation is my goal.
