On "CHEATING" - Practical Philosophy topic for the week of February 26th, 2024
Hello my friends, for Practical Philosophy Club we're going to be discussing CHEATING this week. A few jump off points to kick off our meeting: • Defining cheating: What exactly constitutes cheating? Is it simply breaking a rule or law, or is there a deeper moral implication involved? • Is cheating always morally wrong? Are there circumstances where cheating could be considered ethically justifiable or necessary? • Does tax evasion count as cheating and is it morally wrong? Example: you didn’t explicitly state you agree with it, you could only be doing it to avoid jail. • Is cheating in a game viewed differently from cheating on taxes or in a relationship? • How does knowing if someone cheats on their spouse affect how you view of that person, if at all? • How do societal and cultural norms influence attitudes towards cheating? Are there cultures where certain types of cheating are more accepted or condemned? For those unaware of Practical Philosophy Club, it's a weekly meetup where we meet and discuss a specific topic. If you'd like to attend you can see if there's one in your area. If there isn't, you can learn how to start your own club here in the Classroom section of this Skool. Attached is the poster and some images of last weeks meetups in Mexico, Canada and Valencia, Spain.
