Pet Loss
Dearest community, please forgive my 'MIA' the last couple of days. My most precious girl, Nala, has been in end of life care for the last year, and passed away yesterday afternoon in the safety of her home, in the arms of the person who loved her the most in the world. I'm trying to navigate the loss of the very best 'dog teacher', a behaviour student could ever have asked for - she taught me so much about boundaries, about deep-rooted behaviours, about dog-on-dog conflict, about food resource guarding, and so much more. But most importantly of all, she taught me that even a dog with significant behaviour and physical impairments, can be supported. Can be beautiful. Can be loving. Can be the best comfort in times of stress. I am utterly devastated. I am broken. So, I ask that you all please bare with me as I may be a little less active in this space over the next few days. If there's anything really important remember you can reach out to @Clare Hudson Hill or @Vanessa Barber - our HGA tutors. I intend to be back on track for our next Live check in on Monday.

National Puppy Day 🐾
Do any of our members have a puppy? 🐶 Don’t forget we have a FREE puppy grooming webinar available via this community and you are all welcome to watch it in your own time! If you have a favourite photo of your dog when they were a pup, feel free to post it in this thread! Here’s a video of my feral dog, Honey, before she became a total rocket 🚀 😅 Link to free webinar: https://youtu.be/YmnX_lU6bak?si=BbU1JdkoT8m7vRvc

@Stephanie Zikmann they are indeed! Puppyhood was hard. REALLY hard. We looked into all the potential issues of having littermates before making the decision, we separated them a lot, slept in separate rooms, did individual training, individual walks as well as some walks together… but it was still very difficult. Love them both to the ends of the earth, but I would urge anyone thinking of taking the same path to think about it very, very carefully. And then think about it again 😂

@Stephanie Zikmann no, they’ve never fought, just healthy play fighting and chasing where they take turns and check in with each other all the time. They’re Bedlington Terriers, so they look very different now to when they were puppies!

@Christie Rae We’re still struggling with Lilly’s dog reactivity, unfortunately! She’s on pain & anti-anxiety meds under a vet behaviourist now, and we’re reintroducing quiet industrial estate walks, but it’s very slow progress.
