For me, it’s definitely the mental game of climbing. I can psych myself out pretty easily when leading routes which means I’m not doing any of the fun ones unless I’m on top 😩. I also find it difficult in group situations to prioritise my climbing, and it usually ends up I climb a lot less (probably because I’ve psyched myself out in peer settings)
@Steph Pedro fear of falling is definitely an issue. Had a nasty bruise on my ‘learn to lead’ class last year. With group scenarios: I think I lack confidence in my own ability, and want to give others opportunities to climb. I feel like I need to rush through my climbing and not give myself enough time to focus and get into the flow of movement and attempt harder routes.
