Rebalancing the stock portfolio
Hi, @Stomzy Mwendwa , how often or in which time frames would you recommend someone to rebalance the stock portfolio.

@Paul Njihia Rebalancing can be done in mostly two ways. 1. Threshold rebalancing - When a stock/asset has positive returns beyond a certain percentage, the portfolio exposure to that stock/sector increases and causes some level of imbalance. Say for example your allocation for a stock was 5% of capital and the stock sits at 10% returns bringing your total to 15%. You'd realize the 10% and let the 5% continue working. 2.Time-period rebalancing - This is dependent on whether you'd like to rebalance your assets at a certain time of the year. Usually quarterly or annually. This now also follows a discretionary decision on how much you'd want to rebalance by.
Cheaper Alternatives to SWIFT Bank Wires for Funding IBKR from Kenya
Wise: The Recommended Option Wise is the most reliable and cost-effective alternative for Kenyan investors funding IBKR accounts. Many Kenyan users have successfully used it, and IBKR has a direct integration with Wise that makes the process seamless. Key advantages of Wise: - Transparent fees: Approximately 1.4–1.9% of the transfer amount, with no hidden markups - Real mid-market exchange rate: Unlike banks that add 2–4% to the exchange rate, Wise uses the actual mid-market rate with zero markup - Direct IBKR integration: You can link your Wise account directly within the IBKR Client Portal and fund your brokerage account without leaving the platform - Speed: Transfers typically arrive within hours to one business day How to set it up: 1. Create a Wise account – Download the app or register at wise.com using your Kenyan phone number and national ID for verification 2. Fund your Wise account – Transfer KES from your local bank to Wise via M-Pesa or direct bank transfer 3. Link to IBKR – Log into IBKR Client Portal → Transfer & Pay → Transfer Funds → Make a Deposit → Select "Bank Transfer Via Wise" or "Transfer from Wise Balance" 4. Convert and transfer – Wise will convert your KES to USD at the mid-market rate and deposit directly into your IBKR account Estimated costs for a $500 transfer: - Wise: ~$7–9 (about 1.4–1.9%) - Bank SWIFT: $22–50+ (4–10% excluding FX markup) - Savings: $14–42 per transfer Practical Tips for Community Members For small transfers ($100–500), the fee percentages matter most. Wise is the clear winner here because its percentage-based fee structure scales appropriately, unlike flat SWIFT charges that devastate small transfers. For larger transfers ($1,000+), consider accumulating funds before transferring to minimize per-transfer costs. Even with Wise, batching transfers reduces the number of transactions and associated fees. Account verification: Wise registration from Kenya is straightforward – you'll need your national ID or passport, phone number for verification, and a valid Kenyan address. The verification process typically takes a few minutes.

How to Open an Interactive Brokers Account
Lot's of folks ask me which broker I recommend and use and it's hands down Interactive Brokers. They've been in the game since 1977 and are a publicly listed company in the NYSE so you have trust and faith that they know what they're doing especially handling your hard earned money. This video is for all of y'all looking to get started with IBKR. You can use my referral link to get started and you can get up to a bonus of $200 worth of free stock to get you started! Please play it on 0.75 speed if the current speed is too fast for you to follow along. Also, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU OPEN A CASH ACCOUNT. NOT MARGIN! Margin accounts are leveraged and basically you "borrow" money to control larger positions which if they go against you, you'll lose money immediately. Cash accounts are 1:1 meaning 1 dollar controls 1 single unit of stock. Flood this thread with questions if you get stuck and I'll be here to help!

@Jayson Shammah There's a link for getting wire instructions in IBKR which gives you steps to transfer straight from your bank account to your IBKR directly.

Lesson 7
I screened Optex Systems Holdings, Inc. (Optex) Recommendation: BUY Optex Systems represents a classic "picks and shovels" play on the re-arming of the Western world. While the headline risk of a declining backlog must be monitored, the contextual factors—specifically the temporary nature of budgetary delays—suggest this is a timing mismatch rather than a demand collapse. The fundamental economics of the business are stronger than they have been in a decade. Investors are effectively buying a profitable, growing, debt-free defense supplier at a discount, with a free option on the massive potential of the XM30 program. Confidence Level: High The combination of tangible assets ("heavy metal" backlog), verified financial performance (audited FY2025 results), and specific geopolitical tailwinds provides a high degree of certainty regarding the company's floor. The "High" confidence is tempered only by the inherent liquidity risks of a small-cap stock and the binary nature of government contracting. Analysis done using google gemini pro

I will say for sure don't put your faith in AI only. You'll have to really dig into the 10Ks and 10Qs.
Balance sheet from lesson 2
Is there a case where balance sheet might fail to balance? And what can we conclude in such a case?

Easy conclusion. That company is not financially healthy. A balance sheet must balance at all times hence the name. It’s extreme scenarios that can cause this not to be the truth
