ARE WIRE TRANSFERS TOO EXPENSIVE WHEN Funding IBKR FROM KENYA. WHATS THE ALTERNATIVE
Hello guys , my experience funding my ibkr account through bank wire transfer has left me in thinking of using alternative channels due to high transaction’s costs. Swift transfers are just expensive especially if you are using a local banks. While the banks just tell you about their internal swift facilitation cost which range between kes 1500 - 2500 , the don’t mention about the international settlement fees which could range from 10 - 30 dollars or even more. Total charges from my past international swift transfers were almost 30% of the amount being transferred. The math doesn’t make sense . I have come across the wise app option though I'm skeptical as i have not used it before. Anyone who has used it before from kenya for international transfers? Is it a good options ? What other cheaper options are there?
VOO s n p 500 ETF vs NON USA LISTED ETFS SUCH AS CSPX
Hi @Stomzy Mwendwa , I have been looking at investing at the etfs for the s n p 500 and i have seen Voo is one of the best performing, but i have a query on the tax. Located in Kenya which is a non treaty country , what are the tax disadvantages, I have seen around 30% tax for non treaty country investors. What do you think of other etfs such as cspx which does not have the tax on dividends and still give around 15% annual returns .

Interactive brokers app
Interactive brokers. How easy do you find it on your end? 1. Verifying documents on your residence.. Mine keeps being rejected. What could be doing wrong? 2. Account funding is another headache.

@Benjamin Osiemo I also had a challenge getting verified for proof of address , I was skeptical of using my bank statements since ofcourse i earn less than what i selected on the onboarding , I first used my tenancy agreement from my landlord but it was rejected because of the signature been hand signed . Thats how strict they are . Eventually i used a kra returns certificate for this year generated from kra itax portal , with a current year 2025 , edited my residential address to what is in the tax filing cert . It was accepted . All the best
