Soul music...real talk.
I haven't written a song in almost 10 years, nor have I revisited them. It has been terrifying to attempt an open mic since I blanked out the first time and ran off the stage after the first verse. But on Monday, something came through, I came home, and I wrote a song out of nowhere. It felt like a channelled message, I played until my fingers hurt, and I sang it with tears streaming down my face. Then I got a message from above (I call her source) and she told me to sing it at the memorial for a dear family friend tomorrow. Every part of me said, "I am not ready." I sat with my SPARK method and worked through my fears. 1. that it didn't feel SAFE to sing in front of others. 2. that PLAYING in front of people had to be perfect 3. that taking ACTION was attached to at least months of practice 4. In REFLECTION, I noticed that I was given an opportunity with a timeframe to step into this version of me I had always seen as myself....a musician. 5. that to KINDLE this fire, I need to lead with love. So I recorded the song, shared it with the world to overcome visibility (nothing bad will happen) and reach out to my community so that I can stand at the front of an auditorium and sing this song In honour of the people we have lost, we are never alone. *****So what are you scared of doing?***** I want to cheer you on, as you have all supported me.

Overcoming fear, is it a thing?
Fear…is normal. Creativity is magic. I have been thinking a lot about my own fears with creativity, how to be visible, to be authentic and share my ideas without fear. So I did some research, can I overcome fear? I’ve been taking a lot of time making sure my body is regulated, safe and “ready” to create. Sometimes, I need to just start, before I’m 100%. I have been playing around with how I can share my findings and if they resonate with others. Let me know what you fear…

I'm finding it difficult to pick just one haha. For me it's mostly about letting down myself and my wife and daughter. Not so much judgement, because I know they love me either way. But I would say that failing to provide for them because I didn't give it my best effort or played it safe or small, that's my biggest fear.
In the mornings….
As you know I haven’t been hosting sip and spark in the mornings, I wanted to share a bit about why. To find a more peaceful path since returning from my trip to Costa Rica with my family I have kept the no phones in the morning. So no screens… I have been spending more time walking outside (until the snow storm that happened yesterday) Where yesterday I took a photo shoot in the snow! … but the part I want to share is I started a painting with my daughter. One that just calms me. We listen together and we colour. What calms you everyday? I’m also collaborating with someone to bring to the community. Stay tuned.

That looks like so much fun! And that painting is already beautiful! I listen to instrumental movie music from the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean,… every day to help me get into a peaceful state 😁
