Hi I am Steve, ex swimmer and now a swim parent to @Ava Sims. Officials coordinator, club record keeper, team manager and assistant coach at Chelmsford Swimming Club. Interested in finding new ways to help my daughter become the best swimmer she can be. She is doing really well, making regionals in a range of events since she was 12 years old. Swimming is a great sport to be a part of, it teaches you so much, resilience being the most omportant one. Nice to meet you all!

@David Karasek thanks 🙏
Train Or Not To Train
With regionals on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, is it better to train on Friday morning with two early starts on Saturday and a Sunday travelling to the venue for 8.00am warm-ups each day, or get an extra two hours of sleep and miss training?

@Stephen Barry Just worked out we are at Luton for the East Region and you’re South East! Good luck to Liv. 🏊‍♀️

Meet
Last weekend I had a competiton . That was first LC meet this year. It wasn't so important meet and it wasn't so big. Our coach told us that he doesn't expect nothing big from us so that also helped me feel relaxed. I swam 5 races and got 5 PB's🤩. 100 free 1.05.14 (PB 3.5 sec) that was my first race and I didn't felt so great in water 100 breastroke 1.21.42 (PB 7 sec) I felt great in water, my stroke felt powerfull and I enjoyed that race, also got medal 🥉❤️ 50 free 31.23 (PB 0.5 sec) wasn't so happy with this race, I expected better result🥲 200 free 2.23.78 (PB 5.5 sec) I'm happy with this race and I had good pace 200 breastroke 2.56.96 (PB 12 sec) very, very happy with this race and result, but I have to work on last 50 m to be a bit faster, also got medal 🥈

Big meet
So I have a meet coming up next week and i just finished choosing my races and they are races I have never done before 1500 800 400fr 200fr I have never swam these races before and have no idea how to swim them. ESPECIALLY the 1500fr ! None of my friends are doing it and it’s only gonna be me and this other girl in the race. And this other girl has a long time doing the 1500 and I won’t be able to pace off of her. I am so scared I will go too easy and do a horrible time. Do u guys have any tips for the 1500?

For the 1500m my advice is to start at a moderate pace and build that pace throughout the race. It’s much better to start slowly and build than it is to go to fast and suffer towards the end. My daughter swims 1:03.50 for the 100 free, but will tick over at about 38s per 50m during the 1500m. Make sure you even pace it as well, fast/slow is a recipe for disaster! Good luck 🤞
