Alternative voicing for G7
Following on from the guitar hang on Sunday, with Stephen and Tim, there was a question about voicing G7. Stephen didn't like 320001. I agree with him and suggested 323030. Prompted my comment to try to replace the note you don't like in the chord with the same note elsewhere. G7 contains the note F, so rather than playing the F note on the first string, (fret 1), replace it with the F note on the 4th string, ( fret 3)...and I must admit I like the D note on fret 3 of the second string. To my ear it gives a fuller sound. What do you think ?

I do like that voicing better than the more common 320001. But, do you play the open 1st string (E)? Was does that do to the G7, adding a 6th to the chord? I originally thought that I would fret the 1st string on the 3rd fret, but then I lose the 5th (D) from the chord, and it's not practical (at least for me) to fret both the 1st and 2nd strings at the 3rd fret along with the rest of the fingering. I think the solution would be to mute or not play the 1st string. Am I worrying about nothing?
Meeting this weekend. April 11/12
Hey guys, apologies for the radio silence over the last couple of days. I managed to pop my back ( again !) Lots of stretching and swearing ! But I did spend some time looking through YouTube...some amazing music and amazing music teachers on there . Who are your favourites ? Anyway, I'm on the mend and hoping to have a meetup this weekend, if you are on for it. Would Saturday at 3pm or Sunday at 4pm my time ( 8 /9 am in US, 9/10 pm in Asia ) suit any of you. Let me know. I can introduce some less common chord progressions and ways of playing chords. Also I can introduce an unusual, 10 string modified guitar that I am playing a lot these days .. any other suggestions ? Hope to see you over the weekend.

Sunday at 4pm your time (9am mine) works better for me. I've got gigs on Saturday that will have me tied up that day.
