What is "Moderation"?
The Stoics described Moderation as "knowledge of what to puruse and what to avoid". How does that fit into our daily living?

@Andrew Nelson just acknowledging it even makes a difference

@Andrew Nelson you're welcome. Now I want a doughnut.
"Why" is a risky word
When we ask questions with why or receive them, is there a bit of defensiveness? Why didn't you do your homework, why isn't the presentation ready, why did you buy that? Non-violent Communication can still be clear, but may be received better, and build more trust. Can you think of better ways of asking "why questions?"

WTF were you thinking!?!? No, I'm totally kidding. Seriously, just ask gentle probing questions that can be answered. The why will reveal itself. "Be curious, not judgmental"

@Paul Sirvinskas yes, we all want to get to the why, but leading with that is riddled with pressure, especially for kids. They don't know "why", they know reasons. Big difference.
The Pain of Discipline or the Pain of Regret - You Choose
We are living in an era where many in the world have more than we need, and we are bombarded with the chance to make our lives easier...home delivery of groceries etc. This ease of life can make it easy for ME to want the extra chocolate, the extra sleep in, the extra time surfing the internet. It eats away and doesn't train my discipline. I used to see the word "Discipline" as something I wanted, but was scared of. Now I see it can help me build my own sense of self-worth. As Jim Rohn said, "We suffer one of two pains in life, the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The pain of discipline weighs ounces, the pain of regret weighs tonnes."

I just put a calendar appointment in my calendar to workout at noon, because I was not disciplined enough this morning to do it now, and instead chose to sit and drink my coffee scroll and post in Skool. So...did I just do something to help myself stay disciplined?? I like to think so.
apologizing to kids ?
i curious, i think this is a powerful way to be real with your kids. show them how to be a good human by apologizing when you get it wrong. Do you think this is a problem? why or why not?

Do it all the time.

@Tim Tindle The sooner our kids realize we're human too they start to treat us that way instead of taking us for granted (as much). I find no harm in showing my kids my weaknesses and acknowledging them, but also holding my self accountable. They learn from us.
