Friday 5x5
This week's streams had more than a few trips to the past for Game Theory (1987), Trotsky Icepick (1988), The Walkabouts (1988), and Beat Happening (1989). And favs from the past few years, and some new releases. And LOTS from The Beths. #5x5 #LastFM #music #FridayGrid #NowPlaying

I'm looking forward to listening to the Snocaps. Been on an Elliott Smith kick today, listening to the XO album. Weirdly, I like Marissa Nadler's cover of Pitseleh better than Smith's original
Opening Tracks
I've had some conversations recently with local musicians about one of my favorite topics, song sequencing on albums. I love an album with a well-thought-out sequence of tracks, and especially if it's a concept album of some sort. Seattle's Dining Dead ticks all those boxes for me on the stunning release from earlier this year, Is This a House? The opening track, Overture, is perfection. The way it leads into Against The Wall, and the whole flow of the album, is an absolute work of art. Start here, but please, please listen to the whole album, straight through. "All the angels are dreaming of me," indeed.

Definitely a band to keep an eye on. Love finding segues between "Burn Your Dinner" and other songs.

Another eclectic mix of old and new. I'm falling back into a heavy Game Theory mode. Great new ones in here from Dazy, Florence + The Machine, Into It. Over It, Tomo Nakayama, Emi Pop, Bartees Strange, & King Youngblood all there this week.

Thanks @Howie Cohen for directing us to the cool features of last.fm. This week, I was really inspired by Thrice's appearance on Amoeba's YouTube series What's in my Bag? I'd listened to Chat Pile before, but this album's great. Excited to dive into Pile's catalogue. Channel Orange from Frank Ocean keeps growing on me over time.

Glad to be here!
Hey everyone! Glad to be here. My favorite track right now is Bend by Middle Kids. It speaks to me right now because, well, everything. I feel the lyrics and vocals from the inside out, if that makes sense. My husband and I just went from 2 high schoolers to empty nesters all at once (twins off to college) so I am navigating the new free time with loads of dog walks, books, and music.

@John Richards I really appreciate the songs that focus on the positive. "I am one step away from the precipice of crazy" is just a great lyric too. Sorry about the hate.
