Jewelry designers—real question.
How are you pricing your pieces? Are you pricing by: • materials only? • time + materials? • wholesale vs. retail margins? • intuition? • fear of being “too expensive”? Or… are you actually accounting for: • tools• studio costs • years of skill • overhead & hidden expenses • profit (yes—profit matters) Too many designers are told their work is “beautiful” but struggle to make it sustainable. I’m curious—what’s your current pricing method, and what feels most confusing or challenging about it? Let’s talk honestly. No gatekeeping. No shame. Artists deserve to be paid fairly. 👇 Drop your thoughts below.

Materials time and margin, though I know I'm not pricing enough! Hard to get past that and actually price what you should
Are you a jewelry Designer?
Good day, I am Delilah, the owner of Masani Wearable Art and I have been designing jewelry for over 40 years. I started off at street flea markets on the lower east side of New York to having my work in boutique in SoHo NYC. I want to do a head count of how many of you guys are actually creating hand crafted jewelry. If you are can you start a little about you and your work😊 and if you are interested in learning how to make Jewelry can you share your why😊. I am so looking forward to get to know a little about you through your story. Thanks in advance for sharing😊

Hey! I have a brand called Mon Serrai. I'm based in Antigua and I have a couple of retail spots that carry my pieces. I'm doing well, but would like to do better. I think half my trouble is pricing correctly in order to make it a proper business. I love the craft and I'm always looking to learn and expand my skills. I love helping in any way I can!
Getting to Know Fellow Jewelry Creators
Hi everyone 👋 I’m new here and excited to learn from this community. I’m especially interested in how you price and market handmade jewelry. What’s been your biggest challenge so far?

Hey! For pricing you should get your cost together: material cost and labour cost. You should then do: cost x2 is wholesale price, wholesale x 2.5 is retail price. Or basically a 80% markup over cost. I struggle to price that high though

@Olivia Thopson When I just tried higher pricing on pieces that I thought were exceptional, and they sold immediately, I knew I had room to price what I needed to. You just have to know that you need to price like that in order to make a business of this, and of course believe that you and your work deserve it.
