Brief introduction with my voice!
It's dirty, oily and gross... but that's how I prepare and process rocks. Mineral oil is the medium for cutting... water is the coolant for grinding and polishing. Support your local lapidary club! 12" saws are around 2000 dollars.. trim saws are another 800, and a good cabbing machine, lortone or cab king are at least 2200. It is quite an investment. Plus consumables.

Thank you for allowing me to join the group. My name is Stacy, and I’m looking forward to learning from all of you and building my own community someday. I can’t even begin to start with what I don’t know, I have a very basic understanding of gems, minerals, and fossils and classification, but above and beyond that I do not know most of the gems and minerals by sight and I am just learning to try to cut and polish rocks for the very first time this week! I live in one of the best spots for minerals and quartz in Missouri, and I want to know what beautiful things I can find at home, and work with the agates, quartz, and other minerals that are right here on my land.
