The Art of Letting Go
Today I want to share a short talk-through on the art of letting go. When we feel overwhelmed, stressed, or weighed down by profound suffering, our instinct is often to tense up and push harder. But letting go isn't about being a pushover or swanning around oblivious to the world; it is a genuine form of strength. Drawing on the Taoist concept of “wu wei” and the idea of not forcing. This practice is an invitation to stop, pause, and let the stirred-up sand settle until everything becomes clear. You don't need to correct your posture, force your breath, or adjust yourself to be "perfect." Your body already knows how to reset. Whether you are lying in semi-supine on your bed or sitting quietly in a chair, give yourself this brief moment to be comfortable in your own skin and trust that your body is listening.

I’ve often struggled with the concept of letting go and would find myself getting irritated whenever someone suggested it! I spent hours swirling around in my own mind today, so I tried this technique twice and realised I was, once again, living from the head upwards. Thank you for the reminder of how quickly we can shift when we stop trying to think our way through everything and remember that we are so much more than just our minds. ✨

I love the paradox you point to here. It makes me think about how much of my suffering comes from my resistance to what is, rather than the experience itself. And how easily I fall into the trap of believing I need to change, force or fix this or that. It makes me wonder how often we resist the very peace and freedom we’re searching for. There must be some angels somewhere rolling their eyes, thinking, “Oh no, not again!” 🙃
