Be kind to yourself
Calm is not something you achieve; it really is something you practice, moment by moment. If you've recently lost your focus, gotten distracted, or reacted in a way you wish you hadn't—this video is for you. In this session, we explore the importance of being kind to yourself, allowing your nervous system to regulate, and adopting a "beginner's mind" to start afresh. Remember: this is a journey, not an end result. You can always improve, so don't be too hard on yourself.

@Fergus McCausland yes this is such a common experience but so rarely discussed. Spotting the unconscious habits and judgements is a key part and then letting these go. And being less reactive when they don’t!
Why taking a deep breath can make things worse.
Most breathwork advice tells you to "take" a deep breath—forcing air in and out to a strict count. But did you know this habit often creates extra tension in your body? In this session, we break down why shift in attitude matters far more than technique. Instead of forcing or "taking" air, learn the power of simply allowing your breath to flow naturally.

Hope you find this useful. We did not edit out my mistake as i think it is important to see how much power an unconscious habit can have.

Thank you for this really interesting feedback. The habits like extra tension can be hard to spot at first but then they do start to fall away.
Breathwork changed my life. It could really change yours.
Ten years ago, I stood in front of a room full of people at this exact venue, completely overwhelmed. On the outside, i looked like I was calm and collected while speaking to a packed room . On the inside, I was running entirely on panic and adrenaline. That day forced me to confront a hard truth: you cannot simply push your way through stress. Forcing yourself to perform when your body is screaming at you carries a heavy personal cost. That evening I decided enough was enough and went to a Alexander Technique teacher who taught me about breathwork, and the shift was profound. It changed the way I live and work so deeply that I went on to train as an Alexander Technique teacher. Now, I am returning to where it started. On 24th September 2026, I am hosting an in-person breathwork course at this venue. This is a grounded, trauma-informed breathwork course based on current research into the nervous system. There are no gimmicks or extreme breathing exercises; it is focused on safe, sustainable physiological regulation. This day is built specifically for: Business leaders carrying the cognitive and physical load of relentless decision-making NHS doctors and nurses living with high workplace pressure and compassion fatigue Psychologists and therapists looking for practical, somatic approaches to support their clients Anyone working in the emergency services Anyone feeling the quiet, physical toll of long-term stress You will leave with practical, skills to reset your breathing, release physical tension, and regain calm in high-stakes environments. Spaces are kept limited to ensure a focused, safe environment. If you would like to join us, all the details and booking information are in the first comment below. Alternatively, feel free to send me a direct message with any questions

@Alexandra Chapman thanks this comes through so many times when people learn to stop and notice the habits and patterns of behaviour and thinking that are pulling them down.
