🎸 The Secret To Learning Guitar
I often get asked for tips, tricks, or some kind of secret formula for learning guitar. You’ll see plenty of things online promising fast results or secret methods — but honestly, that’s mostly just marketing hype. In my experience after many years of teaching guitar, it really comes down to two simple things. 1️⃣ Consistent Practice This one is a bit boring… but it works. The key isn’t huge marathon practice sessions once in a while — it’s short, regular practice over time. I’m a big believer in “little and often.” If you can find 20 minutes to practice, 3–5 times a week, and stick with that consistently, you’ll be amazed at the progress you make over a few months. Small sessions done regularly beat occasional long sessions every time. 2️⃣ Playing Material At The Right Level This might actually be even more important. If you’ve tried learning fingerstyle before, you’ll know it can feel really difficult, even if you can already strum a few chords. The problem is that most fingerstyle arrangements online are written at a very advanced level. That’s why I try to create my arrangements at different difficulty levels: - Full Version – the complete arrangement - Easy Version – simplified but still musical - Very Easy Tabs – playing one note at a time (great for beginners) You’ll find all of these inside the Classroom tab. If you try one of my songs and feel stuck, don’t get discouraged — just drop down a level. You’re far more likely to stay motivated and practice consistently when you can feel yourself improving. So… what are you waiting for? 🎸 Time to pick up the guitar and do some practicing!

Thanks Jack. So far I've managed to keep up with regular practice, and with your help I've been able to find arrangements that are more at my level. Muchas gracias.
🎸 Request a Fingerstyle Tab
I write a brand new fingerstyle tab every single week — and with 300+ arrangements already in the catalogue, I’m currently organising everything here on Skool so you can easily browse what’s available. Most of my arrangements focus on 60s, 70s and 80s classic rock — the big songs we all grew up with. But here’s the thing… I’m not just writing these for myself — I’m writing them for you. So in the comments below, tell me: 👉 Which song would you love to see arranged for fingerstyle guitar? I can’t promise I’ll be able to do every suggestion, but I’ll absolutely take a look. The more popular the song, the more likely it is to make the cut — so if you see a suggestion you like, hit “like” on that comment or reply to it so I know there’s demand. Your feedback genuinely shapes what I work on. Last week a member suggested “I Can See Clearly Now” — and I finished the arrangement this afternoon. So tell me… what should I work on next? 👇

New Top 5 Very Easy Tabs
Hey everyone 👋 I know some of you are completely new to fingerstyle — and some of you are even brand new to guitar. If you’re just starting out, fingerstyle can feel tricky at first. You’re asking your fingers to do different jobs at the same time… and that takes a little practice. So to make things easier, I’ve just added my Top 5 Very Easy Fingerstyle Tabs to the classroom. These are simplified melody-only arrangements, meaning you’ll just play the main tune — no complicated bass lines, no tricky coordination. Perfect for building confidence and getting used to the style. All five songs are now available in the Classroom Tabs section 🎸 Start with whichever one you like the sound of — and take it slow. If you get stuck or need any help at all, just let me know. I’m here to help. Jack

@Jack Gration Valencia is beautiful. Too hot for me, I guess I'm used to the British weather by now. Btw I'm gonna start with House of the Rising Sun. Only been playing a couple of months so we'll see. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.

@Jack Gration Thank you so much. Yeah it's only been a couple of months. When I saw Angie I thought great, I love than song. But it's still way beyond me. I'll see what I can do with the simple version of HOTRS and if I'm struggling I'll let you know.

Serendipity brought a guitar into my life when I needed it most. Daily practice is a form of meditation.
