Now I’m asking about this more on a legal sense rather than a sense of your morals because it’s everyone’s personal choice if they want to do something free or discounted. That’s up to you But I’ve heard other groomers mention to baby groomers to offer free or discounted services to help better their skills Now I think that this can seem like a great idea except for the simple fact that if something goes left (dog gets injured, you get injured, etc) What happens then?? Legally if a owner were to “take it there” Also if someone is doing discounted grooms even if it’s just to practice & that is communicated, doesn’t that mean you’re still operating as a business if you’re accepting any payment? Therefore without insurance, LLC, etc. You’re just being fraudulent? I’m just curious how doing free/discounted grooms is a good idea to some ppl on a legal standpoint when it comes to those who are new & still learning No judgment to anyone that has gone this route, I just feel like I might be over thinking into things & would love more clarification/opinions

I sometimes doubt myself as a groomer because I don’t own any sort of purebred dog. This probably sounds really silly. But I look at so many big dog groomer influencers or master groomers, and they have these beautiful standard poodles, bichons, kerry blue terriers, bouvier des flandres, and bedlington terriers. I love my little shih tzu mix, but sometimes I consider getting a second dog to try to help me elevate my grooming skill at home. To have a dog I could practice breed standard trims on, that I could do more experimental grooming with, and actually maintain their coat. For context, my own pup unfortunately has an enlarged heart, 6/6 grade murmur, and CHF, so I cannot risk putting her through unnecessary added stress. I try to keep her grooms minimal and comfortable.

My names Silver I am not a professional groomer (yet!) I Did have some bathing experience when I worked at doggy daycares but the way we were trained (if we were trained) no one should have been bathing anyone’s dog. I didn’t start educating myself until I got my own dogs & refused to take them to groomers because the ones I worked with were ….well u know where I’m going with the at So not wanting my dogs to potentially be abused I took to mainly Tiktok to learn how to groom my dogs at home & would binge people’s lives while they groomed, asked questions & just practiced. It’s been a year & im still learning & practicing but I joined because I wanted a safe space to continue learning from others without being judged because any community tends to get toxic towards new ppl. So here are some fun CRINGE grooms I’ve done on my dogs when I first started VS my most recent grooms which were a few days ago. Not perfect but the progress is there 😅😅
