New Group Name Announcement 🌱
Hi everyone, I wanted to share a small but important update with you. Today, @Pat Webb sent me a personal message that really gave me something to think about. We talked about whether the name “Pottery Moms” might unintentionally discourage people—especially men or anyone who doesn’t identify as a mom—from joining this wonderful group, even though they love pottery just as much. 🔥💪🏻 That is the very last thing I would ever want. This group is meant to be open, welcoming, and inspiring for everyone who enjoys working with clay. So with that in mind, I’ve renamed the group to POTTERY PEOPLE. My hope is that this new name makes it easier for more people to feel invited and included, and to find their way into this community. I truly hope this change is okay with all of you, and that I’ve acted in your spirit and on your behalf. Thank you for being such an amazing, supportive group 💛

🤍 Looking Back on 2025 – Your Favorite Piece ✨
Before we rush into setting goals for 2026, let’s take a moment to pause and look back 🕯️ This year, we created a lot together 🤍 We experimented, learned, failed, tried again — and shaped things with our own hands ✋🏼✨ For the last days of the year, I’d love to invite you to share one favorite piece from 2025 🏺 Please post a photo of a piece you’re proud of 📸 It could be: - something that represents a skill you improved 🌱 - a form or technique that finally clicked ✨ - a glaze combination that surprised you in the best way 🎨 - or simply a piece that still makes you smile when you look at it 🤍 This isn’t about perfection 🫶🏼 It’s about noticing progress, creativity, and moments of growth — sometimes quiet, sometimes unexpected ✨ Take a little time to reflect on what you’ve created and what you’ve learned this year 🕊️ Before looking ahead, let’s honor what already exists 🤍 I can’t wait to see your pieces ✨

New Years Eve and traditions
New Years Eve is here. Time to say goodbye to 2025 and welcome 2026. May everyone have a great celebration 🍾 ✨️ Cheers to you all. Proost!! My question for all is; What is your traditional food for this day? For us Dutch it is Oliebollen and appelflappen The Oliebol is dough with raisins and deepfried. A strong tradition in the Netherlands. This is actually blown over to America in the very past when the Dutch came over. Now known as the donut of today (doughnut). Over the years the form changed and raisins are left out. The appelflap is a slice of apple, with cinnamon and sugar, covered with batter and deepfried. It all is served with powdered sugar (icing) represents snow. My dad used to cook this in the garage, no oil damp in the house. Spread out on news paper to cool off and leak the oil off. My mum was busy with the dough early in the morning. It had to rise 2 times over. Good memories.

@Mary Lee Edwards amazing Mary. Now that you tell me how your daughter got her intrest from, i have think of my youth. When i was a little girl my patents my sis and me always went to Spain on summer holiday. Car and caravan. At the Mediterranean sea. 4 beautiful weeks. Everyday we were at the pebble beach and every day we walked to those little rock pools to find little fish, starfish and sea urchins. I have good memories there. I had my note book and made colourfull drawings when we were back home. I added teksts to it from of a child book. As kid i made so my own book. And i still have it. On highschool i did examn in Biology. And passed with a good score. The teacher and i had a good click. I never went further with it. Maybe a little, i got my diploma chemistry assistant in a farmacy. (Apotheek) Beautiful foto again of your daughter. Thank you for sharing.

January Challenge: Create Your Own Oil Lamp or Incense Burner🔥🪔
In less than two days, the new year will begin — and with it a new month and a new challenge.✨ For January, inspired by Gwen’s suggestion, we invite you to create your own oil lamp or incense burner. How it looks is completely up to you — the only requirement is that it works.🪔 For an oil lamp, you’ll need a container, a wick, and olive oil so the wick can draw the oil and produce a flame. Alternatively, you can create an incense burner, where a flame is placed underneath a small bowl or surface. The design can be very simple or more complex — that’s entirely your choice. Feel free to let your creativity run wild. This challenge is about ideas, experimentation, and making something functional, not perfection.🙌 Have fun with it, and feel free to share your progress, thoughts, and ideas along the way. We hope many of you will join in and take part. Enjoy the process and have fun! 🔥✨
