broth making day
I brought home the turkey carcass from our daughters last night. It’s pretty big and I put it on to cook this morning for broth. Anyone else making broth today? And why is broth always called Bone Broth now? I thought all meat broths started with bones.

One thing I do or try to do is clean as much of the meat off of the bones as possible, and then roast the bones under the broiler. Until they are nice and toasty, it has a much richer deeper flavor to the broth makes it more like bone broth.

Christmas Dinner
What is everyone cooking for Christmas? We are having Ham and Turkey. Laura will make pies. The kids are bringing the side dishes. It is great when the kids are adults and can bring dishes. A lot less work for us. Please share your dinner menu and any Thrifty ideas to share. Blessings!

I believe I’m doing a boneless leg of lamb, a mushroom risotto with Farmers Market mushrooms for TFM, most likely a salad, with a homemade salad dressing, of course balsamic vinaigrette, and we haven’t decided on the pie yet I’m kind of leaning towards the Pecan Pie recipe for America’s test kitchen with some cranberries thrown in. I recently got a pie from an Amish woman at TFM market that was made with native Oklahoma pecans and had cranberries in it and it was over the top so amazingly good, good night.

FYI, the only lamb I use is from Triple K Farms in Strang Oklahoma if you want some of the best lamb you’ve ever tasted in your life look them up.
