Sparring
any tips for sparring. I see that I end up shelling up when they come towards me.

looking sharp bro, love the left hooks u keep landing. your jab to the head is lovely but maybe some more stiff jabs to the body to setup the left hooks?

you were throwing jabs to the body to double up the jab to the head but it would've been nice to see a stiff jab to body to interrupt him coming too close
Thoughts about watching your teammates fight
As an amateur fighter, you're usually not the only person your gym sends out to compete. Whenever there is a competition, you probably have several teammates competing before and/or after you. This raises the question: Should you watch their fights? Usually I do just because the anticipation is killing me, but I have noticed it inevitably impacts my mood. A win makes me feel high, and a loss (especially if it's a bad one) makes me feel down. These emotional shifts aren't always helpful, especially because fight day is already a day packed with emotion, where you just want to chill until it comes time for you to fight. So what do you guys think? Give in to FOMO, or skip watching live and just relax backstage?

I think it depends on how long you've got until you walk out brother. If you're much later on the card after your teammates fight it doesn't seem to effect me much... If I am supposed to be walking out in the next fight or 2 then I'll still be getting warmed up in the back.
Close the distance
Hello I have a problem cause im primary a grappler. Striking is just to hard for me. Im 1.72 so almost everyone have a bigger range than me. What should I do to close the distance avoiding the jabs?

if you're doing MMA sparring I would suggest doing a lot of level changes and have a much lower stance if they keep catching you with jabs. The lower your stance the more they have to punch down and that exposes their chin. Keep on mixing up level changes with jabs to the body, jabs to head, left hooks to head and then keep on shooting takedowns. If it is striking only, try and counter his punches with kicks when on the outside but when closing distance try and have an open high guard trying to parry and move head to close the distance.
