Hello everyone, my name is Shawn and I am from Oklahoma City, OK. I am 53, I have been playing since 13, so for 40 years I have loved, hated and loved playing the guitar. I am a guitar technician and previous music store manager / owner. I grew up in a very blue collar oil field family, barely had money for guitar strings much less lessons or books. For years those of us in my neighborhood who all were of the same financial situation banded together and would share tips or licks we picked up and that is how we learned. Jump to adulthood I was in school and working full-time so lessons were impossible then as well, then came marriage and parenthood and now that my daughter has grown up and moved on with her own small family, I would love to learn to play and understand guitar, if that is even possible at this age. I grew up in the 80’s and those players were amazing to me, the sounds, the tricks, the over the top personalities…it was a great time to be young and alive. Thank you for having me in the group!
