Host vs Guests
I had a radio show in downtown San Francisco on an AM Talk Show station in the 90s. I started out doing a show on a small station in Concord, but wanted a broader reach for an audience so I thought it would be a good move. I went from no fees to having to cover $600 for the hour show. That meant that I had to find sponsors. It wasn't that difficult to find companies who wanted the exposure. I decided to keep it to 4 sponsors who paid $150 each week, billed monthly. Finding guests was just as easy! I didn't charge the guests but typically people do. The prep work for the show could take as much as 4 hours. I had to vet the guest, research their background, come up with enough questions to fill the hour and have a conversation with them to make sure they were comfortable with the process. Our show was live and a lot of people are not at ease with a microphone in front of them. I had to learn how to make the guests feel like they were having a conversation with me personally. The one hour show, with travel time to San Francisco, took about 6 to 8 hours a week. I gained a large audience in the two years of doing live shows. But, it didn't correlate to generating business for me because of the way I set it up. A friend had her show on the same station and charged her guests $300 and she had 8 sponsors she charged $150 per spot. So she did fairly well! She then went on to create one of the first online university formats to share people's intellectual property. Today, one of the broadest reaches for someone to have their own show is on VoiceAmerica.com. They charge $200-1,000 per show depending on how many services you opt in for. There are many services that are absolutely free though! However, being a guest is easy breezy by comparison! Typically hosts find me! I've made myself visible on social media, engage with people who are hosts and guests and will do 2 to 4 interviews each month. I provide my headshot and a short bio for the host to use to promote the show, an introduction, about 10 questions with the number of minutes each answer requires so the host will know which questions to ask prior to a break, my website and social media links and then I just show up!

@Tim Staton You are welcome Tim! You're right, it's a lot of work and so much easier, especially when you're starting out to be a guest! When and if you ever decide to do your own podcast, you can get a VA to do all the leg work for you and streamline the time it takes for you to produce a show!
🎉 My first podcast as a guest is out 🎉
I am so happy !! It was recorded a few days ago and launched yesterday. I talk about how trapped emotions, subconscious beliefs, and low vibrational energy can block business growth without you even realizing it. A must-watch for anyone struggling with motivation, consistency, or growth. Is it ok to share the link here? (If not let me know and I'll remove it) https://youtu.be/GwCaBvJhwuc

Joint Ventures
I was inspired share with you one of the most successful methods I've used to build relationships, my database and my client base. I was introduced to Joint Ventures (JV) by Alex Mandossian who had just left his high six-figure income at at mega marketing firm in New York. He made it so easy for people to learn quickly, how to generate the level of business we had always wanted to create. My first JV was with a newbie to the speaking world. He didn't have a database, no clients and no concept as to what he wanted to do. After talking with him about what industry he thought he wanted to concentrate on, I came up with Singles Spotlight, a program featuring those who had anything to do with the singles market. We both found 11 people from Facebook who were authors, speakers, TV, radio & talk show hosts. We arranged for each of them to promote to their database the time and place they were to be interviewed by us. Their clients signed up to listen free the day of the interview by signing up through our website so we could capture their details. At the end of the 22 interviews we had about 8,000 people in our database for people who were interested in the singles market. The set up was fairly easy and of all the people we asked to participate, only one turned us down. After the project was complete, he had a foundation to base his new business on. He continued to do interviews and packaged the interviews in audio programs he could sell digitally. If you're interested, I produced an audio program detailing all of the steps to create a successful JV program.

Speaking Out!
If you're here on PodGuesters, you are obviously looking at getting your message out into the world. What do you want people to know about you? When you are on an interview, what is the main thing you want your audience to know? You'll need to be precise and not take chances on what you have to say. Don't let your interviewer distract you for your focus. The more thought you put into it, the more your message will be received in the manner you choose. Plan out your talking points, make sure your message delivers the points that will give you the best returns. Make sure you know what you want as a result of your conversation.
