BEFORE He walked through the neighborhood he has known his whole life, watching boarded-up buildings, memorial candles, and people who had stopped believing life could be different. He had learned to wear strength like armor, never speaking about the anxiety, grief, or dreams he kept buried because hope felt dangerous where he came from. He told himself "This is just who I have to be," while quietly wondering if the version of himself that existed before survival was gone forever. AFTER Then the music found him. Every verse named a truth he never heard spoken out loud—that surviving wasn't the same as living, and where he came from wasn't something to be ashamed of but something to honor. He stood still as the song became a mirror instead of an escape, realizing his energy wasn't something to hide or waste—it was the remedy. He left that moment carrying the same story, but no longer carrying it alone, knowing that if his life could be transformed into purpose, someone else's could too.
