In Central Alabama I’m guessing high thermal mass would be more beneficial than high insulation. Totally ready to stand corrected, if needed!

There’s also mold/mildew on the shady side of my vinyl mobile home in Central Alabama. This is encouraging to hear because it seems to me the cob would deal with the moisture more naturally and effectively.

Any tips, tricks or advice before we get started on a small cabin? I’ve got the basics pretty well understood (I think).

Just saw your workshop coming up and I already have something on the calendar. I’m so bummed as I’m not too far from you! We’re in Central Alabama. Looking to build some cob structures on our 40 acres to create living quarters for our children as they grow so they don’t have to move away. We have 8 (ages 4-18). Planning to start with 4 small living quarters and a shared kitchen space. Biggest bottleneck right now is site prep. I’ve got it dozed but need to level and prepare with stone.

@Coyle Kelly super cool! We’re down in Chilton County not far from Jemison. I head to Alabaster a few times a month. I’d all so love to bounce ideas off of one another. We’re getting ready to start a small cob structure here in the next few weeks. We’re also new to this and it would be amazing to have you down to help/inspire if it works out!
