Making door frame openings
Okay walk me through making the frame openings. I'm looking at the pictures you have, and it looks like the boards span the entire 18 in width, do I really need to use 18 in boards or If I use 10 in boards would that cause issues?
Earthen Floors and walls
For inside the house on an earthen floor, how do you attach the walls to the floor? Do i need to embed wood or concrete into the floor for 2x4 interior walls?

I'm going to comment on my own post because I found the answer... you install a Deadman into the base coat that sticks up enough to be level with the floor and then you attach the walls to that. (Just incase someone else is trying to figure this out too :) )

@Alex Sumerall please share the video when you do it! I am very interested in the process for that.
Just got our footers poured!
Finally got our footers poured for our house! Feels like so much work has gone into making this happen! The next step will be building the brick stem wall. Any brick laying tips??

@Alex Sumerall I bought a type n mortar for the brick stem wall, is that going to cause me an issue where it's going to be holding up the cob wall?

@Alex Sumerall I was planning on putting the concrete in the middle of the brick wall, yes. Good to hear I can use the mortar I bought!
Sculpting with COB
Using the slip form method, can you sculpt on the cob walls after you take the forms off?

@Alex Sumerall so if we did it at the last row that might be the best situation?
Hi!
New here, I'm in Southeast Arkansas, anyone nearby? In the process of building a house and almost to the point of cobbing and getting excited.

Maybe just some alternatives to straw? Like is fresh hay okay? Can I cut grassy weeds on my own land? Or even pine straw? We have a lot of pine straw around here.
