Oopsie!
I made a yarn bowl a couple of weeks ago, and I was attempting to replicate the glaze combo and… well, my ADHD brain got distracted 😁. All of the pieces started with two coats of Obsidian, and the intention was to copy the yarn bowl with two coats of Smokey Merlot on the outside and two coats of Deep Firebrick Red on the inside and that’s where I accidentally swapped the colors 🙄. But! I think they still turned out pretty OK!

@Pat Webb Thanks! I just put another one in the kiln but the spiral on that one sticks out from round just a bit; hopefully it will still look good when it comes out!
Howdy!
Hi everyone, Shane here! It took me awhile, but I’m finally checking out this awesome community! I’m mostly a wheel-thrower but I love anything made with clay. Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Wow that looks great! It looks so cozy and I LOVE that knob on the lid!
I did the live demo!!
I’m waiting on more pictures from my partner, but I’d like to share this little video my son took as soon as I was set up. I took aprons and buckets and towels and a bunch of clay and did live demos at this fun event at a cool hotel in Tucson. I also let people sit down and give it a try! I had posted a while ago asking if that was a crazy idea, but it was not too crazy at all! I had a table off to the side, and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to be dealing with cash so I put it all up as “pay what you can” and the honor system. Honestly, I just wanted to clear off my shelves and I was happy for folks to grab something they loved at a price that felt right to them. It was the most fun I’ve had in a long time! People had such a great time, and a hip group of younger artists all had a try and all said it was like meditation, therapy, one young woman even said that she felt so energized, like if she had gone to yoga! I made about $170 from tips and pay-what-you-can in the 3 hours I was there. That is really good for me because when I’ve done markets, I’ve made much, much less. If I could do this more often, I would! I enjoyed it thoroughly. And I did get a bunch of people ask if I teach classes. Even though that wasn’t even my goal to get new students, I feel like this live demo thing would be a great way to do that!

Oh that’s fantastic! I’ve always wanted to set up and give demos at our summer markets! You must be some kind of Hercules to move a Brent 💪! I also have a Brent but I’m hoping to get my hands on a good portable wheel; maybe a Speedball Artista…? I have a couple of cheap-o Vevor wheels but honestly they are a little infuriating to use 😁

I did a rush job on the editing. This was posted today. I hope you enjoy! Some things didn't work out, but that's life. We learn and move on! https://youtu.be/_w-6fK7CmYY

Love the texture on your pieces! I think that’s my favorite part of making things- adding texture!
