You're running a service business. You're good at what you do. But you're also answering texts at 10pm, chasing invoices on weekends, and writing the same estimate for the hundredth time. That's not a you problem. That's a systems problem. My name is Jacob Chappell. I spent 3 years as a termite control tech before joining the military. I know what it means to show up early, work hard, and still feel like you're barely keeping up. The service industry doesn't slow down and neither do you. After the military I started digging into AI tools — not because I'm a tech person, but because I was tired of watching hard working business owners drown in work that a simple tool could handle in seconds. That's why this community exists. No tech background needed. No big budget. Just practical AI tools that handle the calls, the quotes, the follow-ups, and the admin — so you can get back to running your business instead of being buried by it. Every week you wait is another week working for your business instead of on it. That stops here. Drop your intro below — tell me what you run and what's eating your time right now. — Jacob

Hey Jacob — appreciate this. My name is Shane. I run Prairie Asbestos. I’ve got a small crew, and like a lot of guys here, I’m also a husband and a father of three, so I’m trying to build the business without letting it take over everything else. What’s eating my time right now is marketing — specifically just getting it going in a consistent, effective way. I know we do solid work and we’ve got good reviews, but I’m not showing up as much as I should or bringing in steady inbound leads. I’m also feeling the drag of doing everything manually — quotes, follow-ups, admin — so I can see how systems and AI could help, I just haven’t implemented anything properly yet. Interested to see what tools or systems you’d recommend starting with for someone in my position.

@Jacob Chappell I agree marketing is important, it's not something I have ever really done, all my leads have just come organically through google. I am actually excited about starting with it and implementing AI to do it. I think that was always my biggest barrier is that I didn't want to pay to do it but I also didn't have the time to do it. With AI it is just cutting the learning/ doing time of activities by so much. I have looked in to notebooklm and I think there is some cool stuff that can be done with that for posts and such. I think I hear what your saying is that AI can reduce the leg work that we have to do but it doesn't replace the implementation, there are obviously automations that can be done but even then that still takes active input to achieve any output. We are actually unique in the industry in that I set out to be a primarily b2c asbestos business in which we focus on residential renovations. b2c is high margins, not a race to the bottom that bidding on commercial jobs can be, quick turnaround on being paid, and also it can be more rewarding helping out actually homeowners instead of just a faceless business. As I mentioned I have not done much in the way of marketing just having a good website, getting my GBP set up, very few posts on Facebook and I actually dabbled in door hangers for a bit but it is so time consuming and I didn't see much leads from it probably because of the low volume I was able to do. Tell me what things you are doing and what seems to work for you?

I have been looking for a good way to respond to reviews. Most people just write a short quick thank you and good luck with the project but I know that Google is looking for more than that in responses
