AI has helped me in more ways than I can count! 1. I used it last night to finalize a marketing campaign we run every year - the 12 days of Taxmas. 2. Analysis on a set of complex financial statements to pull out highlights I thought a client might be interested in that I may have missed - picked up one minor thing tied into regulatory changes I was was not aware of. 3. Numerous prospect meetings - preparation to help me speak intelligently about the industry, specific KPIs, regulatory changes etc 4. Draft a presentation to a group of CFOs all working for our ideal client size 5. Plan a 25th wedding anniversary trip to Japan for 2 weeks (in great detail!) the list goes on and on... not only hours saved but better conversations, and much better outcomes. There are always points that I would not necessarily have thought about.

@Mark Wickersham Japan was amazing. 2 weeks 5 cities and it was just a taste… can’t wait to go back and explore some more.

@Mark Wickersham looks like a great example of a mindmap that I end up creating with clients in planning sessions (except mine is all one colour 😀)

@Mark Wickersham I have not had an opportunity to do this yet but it is on my list to work through the next time I have a client meeting where we do this. Great point about colour. I will have to try that! Appreciate the help as always.
Intuit just signed a $100M deal with OpenAI… here's why that matters for accountants
Big news: Intuit (the company behind QuickBooks, TurboTax, and Mailchimp) has partnered with OpenAI to deeply integrate AI into their product ecosystem. This means apps like QuickBooks will soon be able to connect directly to ChatGPT. So, what does that mean for us in the accounting space? 🧠 AI-powered workflows are about to get much more practical inside tools we already use 💬 Client conversations, forecasting, and compliance could soon include real-time GPT guidance 💻 ChatGPT connectors to QuickBooks may reshape how we do reconciliations, reports, and insights 💡 Opportunity for firms who understand AI first—before clients do it themselves And one big thought: If this becomes mainstream, how will your firm differentiate itself? I’d love to know… 👉 Are you using any GPT integrations or AI tools inside accounting platforms yet? 👉 How do you see this shift impacting your work? Drop your thoughts in the comments 👇 (And if you want to read more, here’s the original article: TechCrunch link)

Looks like it might be time to add more tools to the kit. We are a Co-Pilot firm based on too many things to get into here. At the very least our Bookkeeping Team might need ChatGPT accounts as well. We have a team member who has created an agent to pull year end reports from QBO for year end work. The ChatGPT integration should make that easier.
💬 Group Chats Are Coming to ChatGPT!
OpenAI has just announced a brand-new feature — Group Chats — letting you bring multiple people (and ChatGPT) into the same conversation. You’ll be able to plan trips, make decisions, and collaborate on projects together while ChatGPT helps summarise, search, and generate — all in one shared chat. It’s currently being piloted in New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, with wider rollout expected soon. 💡 This reminds me — you can also share Projects in ChatGPT now, which is incredibly useful in theory… but there’s still one frustrating limitation: if your project includes a Canvas, anyone you share it with can’t access it. It makes me wonder — when Group Chats roll out more widely, will we face the same limitation there too? 👉 What do you think? Would you use shared projects or group chats in your firm — and what would make them more useful for you?

Read about the group chats this morning. The 20 person limitation seemed odd but I suppose it depends on the use case. I am trying to wrap my head around the use in accounting firms. I think I would prefer project chat sharing so that I could have a project for each client and then share that with whomever is working on said client, removing and adding people as needed. But then if I have an issue I want Chat to help with that can be spread/used for multiple clients that I would not run through a single project do I need to share that with everyone? Right now, this feels a big cumbersome but it is in the early stages, I'm sure we will figure out how to make this work efficiently. My issue may be firm size (75 people). Perhaps this is easier to manage with a team of say 10?
MS Copilot is far behind compared to OpenAI ChatGPT
I typed this question: "My client received £52,000 from his late father's estate and £17,000 from his mother, who is alive in the 2025/26 tax year. He has self-employment income of £15,000 and rental income of £7000. He is a UK resident and under 65. Does he need to pay any tax on monies received from his dad's estate and gift from mother?" in Microsoft Copilot (Using Chat GPT 5) and got this answer three times over two days: "Something went wrong. Please try again later". However, OpenAI ChatGPT provided the correct answer within a few seconds. OpenAI ChatGPT's answer is the same as the answer given by TolleysAI. They both use ChatGPT, but the results are entirely different.

I was at a session recently with an AI coach who spends a lot of time with Copilot and ChatGPT. In his conversations with Microsoft, it seems copilot is about 6 months behind Chat even though CoPilot is on the ChatGPT platform. Microsoft does expect this timeframe to shrink but there was no specifics provided for this. All the information was anecdotal but from an authority on the subject.
